Now Facebook wants to put adverts in your NEWSFEED
Will allow ANY firm to advertise on newsfeeds for the first time
Social networking giant already testing new scheme with 'tiny' number of users
Could eventually be forced on all users of the site
Comes as employees are to be allowed to sell stock for the first time on Thursday

Facebook has started to test putting adverts directly into people's newsfeeds.
The changes allow firms to target 'non fans' for the first time, and the feature is expected to eventually be forced on all users of the site if the test is deemed a success.
The latest plans are expected to anger users who believe the site already has too many ads.

You're really surprised? I mean c'mon. YouTube didn't used to have ads, and Facebook already has ads on the side...so what's really the big deal? Yeah, it may be annoying, but it's not like it's the end of the world. And if it's that big of a deal, then get an ad blocking software that is available for Firefox, Chrome, and surely others as well.

More not needed crap, I don't quite get how they will know if it will be successful or not but I really hope the "scheme" goes down the drain.

People still use it, right? If anything, people are using it more than before!
And the loudest complainers are usually the biggest users, and when asked if they'd rather switch to something better, it's "no no, everything is already on facebook and stuff".
I find it brilliant, actually, I mean, what better way to get a few thousand extra bucks per day? And if you don't like it, leave Facebook. Or use Ad Blocking software.

I find it pretty funny how surprised people are acting over this. What did you expect? Facebook as a business is built solely to advertise. It has no other purpose. If a few ads annoy you, it's easy to install AdBlock or just ignore them. Of course Facebook is going to try and advertise more to you, it's how they make their billions.

So instead of being at the side of the screen they'll be shifted a few pixels over to the center? I don't care, especially since I don't see them anyway. Maybe I'll make up something to advertise and buy a few spots.

As someone who doesn't use facebook extensively except to check things, this doesn't really bother me, but I can see how it would be annoying. That place does have too many ads.

Watch a documentary about Facebook by the BBC, it explains many other, effective, methods of money making that they use. For example, people spending £10 on highlighting posts, games, etc.

True, there are plenty of other ways to make money. But the revenue Facebook gains from things like games and post highlighting (which is a form of advertising anyway) is nothing compared to the amount corporations will pay to put their products in your newsfeed. There's no way Facebook is going to cut down on its advertising operations when it doesn't even make much money for a company of its value. Back when they went public there was a lot of talk about how Facebook's business model might not be sustainable. As a result, the moneymaking aspect of the website is going to become a lot more important as time goes on.

No surprise that this is coming along with news that Facebook stocks have fallen about 50% since initial offering.

Oh look, another bunch of egotistical Americans that complains about a company doing what they want with the free service they provide.

Also karl, you need to stop using dailymail.

I'm not American.
But it's just Facebook being Facebook, which isn't really great, but people still use it and I'm sure people will learn to adapt.

If you're still using the internet and aren't using Adblock, get off the internet now.

I didn't know people still cared acknowledged popups and advertisements. This isn't 2002.

Ugh, this is complete bullshit. Don't we have enough ads already? Especially with their "Suggested Ads". Well folks, get ready to download AdBlock if you don't have it already...

Well it's very rare that I read my news feed anyway, since most of it is far more annoying than adverts.
