Okay so my iMac died yesteray and I spent most of my night tearing it apart so all that is left is just an empty casing. (Yes, I took out the display.) Anyways
what parts would you suggest using for re-building it. I know for sure I'll be using a 1024x768 flatpanel display
and I'll install windows 8 if the rumors that it will cost around $20 to 30 dollars is true

Also if anyone knows how to change the text "iMac" on the front, please tell me.

I'm also thinking of illuminating it, if possible

My budget is between $500 to $700. I'm trying to build a decent gaming PC

keep the RAM unless it's really outdated cuz that shit is expensive.

nah the ram is dead. o-o besides its like ancient and only holds 64mb, not nearly enough for windows 8, let alone windows 7.

i see. if u want, try *nix instead of windows/mac. it's much faster and will teach you a lot about computers. you wont even need a very expensive build

I've already used linux, I like it but it dosn't allow me to install many windows applications, even with Wine installed , I'll istall it on an external hardrive after I build this so I can still use Ubuntu.

do you happen to know what kind of ram I should get for a Galxy GeForce GT610 2GB GPU? also, what kind of PSU should I use

I found a cheap build I can use. :D but still, can someone tell me how to change the name
"iMac" on the front of this without stickers?

You will probably need to find a new facia cover without the words iMac

White out could work. I'd just use a sticker though.

it wouldn't work too well, the front panel is semi-transparent.

Start from scratch, you can buy plenty of bundles from PC stores to get you started :)

What kind of games would you like to play?

So this is an iMac G3. Someone in another topic wanted to do the exact same thing (rebuild the computer, not change the text) and it's just a bad idea. Build your new computer from scratch. There's nothing inside you can reuse, and it'll be easier than trying to fit everything into the old case.

Awesome, good luck with your build. I just ordered a bunch of parts from newwegg and my total is about $800 but I have no idea about using the iMac case. I'm just using a standard tower pc case.

Since you seem to be on a tight budget, it might not be that bad of an idea to save the $50 or so that you would spend on the case by reusing the one you have. I would still highly advise you get a new case if you can.

Also know that the GT 610 is, by no stretch of imagination, a good gaming-oriented GPU.
