This is kind of an open discussion. What is your definition of white privilege and what do you think about it? Also, do you think it'll last forever?

if you dont know what white privilege is:
it's basically like because you are white you get it easier.
let me give a few examples:
- white privilege is being able to turn on the t.v. and see people that look like you.
- white privilege is never worrying about having people follow you around in the store (I dont know if this applies to teenagers because people kind of always follower teenagers around in stores. Weirdly though, the majority of shoplifters and middle aged women with children.)
- white privilege is never having to think about race
- white privilege is like lana del rey. she made music that people have already been making for years and they never got recognition and as soon as she did it she was famous. same with adele.
- white privilege is kanye interrupting taylor swift and getting death threats and having to go into hiding but eminem dissed every popstar in the 90's and nobody said a thing about it.



Basically I just want your opinions, sorry it's so long to read.

- not worrying about unfair treatment from cops
- having a majority of models/tv stars/dolls look like you
- if James Holmes was of color there would not be a case over it. Questions like "did he have mental illness?" would be discarded and he would just be thrown in jail.

When people say "white privilege exists", they are not blaming it on EVERY white person. It's the way that it is as a result from events happening over a long period of time. Of course these examples don't always happen, but a good majority of the time they do.

Also, if you are white and get offended over the word "cracker", please spare yourself looking stupid. Cracker is not an oppressive term, in fact, it's used to describe the oppressive historical nature of white people. (the *crack* of a whip)

However, I think blacks might be shielded TOO much. Well here in New Zealand the Maoris use the Treaty of Waitangi to get what ever they want.
They are given all these special learning programs for their kids that are maori only. God help the little white kid that wants to do it 'cause his/her friends are.

well since you gave us a definition of white privilege, then I'll just answer the second part and sayyyy that it will only ever change if blacks and other minorities start integrating more with the rest of society. America always gets called a 'melting pot', but that's only true with white races. African Americans are still kind of isolated from white people and as long as that stays true and there are more of us than there are of them, then there's still going to be white privilege as you defined it .
