Hi. Well this is a kinda weird question, but I couldn't find it answered anywhere else online and this site seemed like somewhere I might get an answer. So I was watching old movies from like the 80's and 90's and I saw a lot of the guys who are supposed to be in high school have really hairy chests, but I know that they often just have older actors playing teenagers so didn't really think about it much.
But I was watching the clip for the song Popular by Nada Surf, and just read that it used real high school students instead of actors and saw the football guys in the shower and they are really hairy for high school dudes. So here is my question, were guys hairier before than they are now? Or is it just the guys in that video or something? I am about the age in the video, and none of my friends are that hairy? Or do more guys shave now?

Some guys shave and some don't get as hairy. I do not think some big evolutionary change occurred since the 80s and made guys less hairy lol.

i guess it depends on the guys - personally im a wookie :D but if its like american football guys (never seen the vid) it is possible they may have taken artificial testosterone which would increase the amount of body hair :L

First of all, I skimmed the video and only saw one guy with chest hair. It's not really uncommon to have high schoolers with hairy chests, they had them back then and they have them now too. I have a very hairy chest for my age (16) but it has nothing to do with the time period, especially over only a few decades.

I haven't seen that video in ages, but I remember it was good. I don't remember anyone being especially hairy or not.

Well if it was a movie then they werent in high school. they hire actors to play younger parts so they might have been 25 playing a 18 year old boy

It's has to do with your family history if your dad had a hairy chest at a young age mostlikley the male offspring will be the same. and there are guys in my school with hairy chest everyone is different

^^^ That
It all depends in genetics and other things like that.

I actually thought it was more to do with your mother's side, so if your MOTHER's father is hairy, you can expect to be too?
