View Full Version : Lyrical Memory vs. Tonal Recall

There is not a single song that I know all the lyrics to, regardless of how many times I've listened to it on repeat. I can however hum the Harry Potter melody of when the main characters were entering the castle on boats (or the melody to any other song I know) on command, which is known as tonal recall.
Which are you significantly better at? Or are you good at both?

I'm pretty good with both, but I'm a little better at tonal recall. I think most people are probably better at that.

I'm pretty decent with both,as a singer/guitarist/pianist(just a little bit piano though) I get both unconsciously shoved down my throat

I do pretty well with both, but a lot better with tonal recall.

Great with both. I swear, my memory is 80% song lyrics. I can listen to a song I haven't even thought about for years and still know every word of it.

I'm slightly better with lyrics than tonal recall, but I'm pretty good at both of them.

I dont really listen to the lyrics in songs (awful I know :( ) but I'm pretty good with both tonal and lyrical memory when I want to be.

There are some albums I know the entire words to, mainly Bell X1 and The Vaccines, along with most of Mumford and sons
