Mmkay, I've got a friend, I'll just call her T for short.
She chews, and she knows it's bad for her, and I want her to quit, but I know I really can't force her to do anything, because that won't work and it's up to her to quit on her own, but I'm looking for a way to nudge her in the right direction, y'know?
It's not so bad that it's a real addiction, she doesn't do it all the time, and she doesn't do it hardly at all when I'm around because she knows it makes me uncomfortable seeing her fuck up her mouth like that, but I don't want it to keep going to the point where it is an addiction, and she can't stop.
I'm feeling conflicted because I know you really aren't supposed to try to change people, but I feel it's for the better so it makes it okay.
I'm just looking for tips to help me help her quit before she can't.
Anything helps guys, thanks. :D

You just need to talk to her about it. Of course, you cannot force anything on her, and even if you tried, that would most likely only lead to her doing it more often. Some people don't care about the negative affects some addictions can bring, and you don't (as you said) need to go changing them. If she is only doing it every now and then, and it doesn't look like it will turn into an addiction, then just let her do it. If it becomes more frequent, maybe you could confront her about it; ask her why she does it, if she knows the possible consequences, etc...
For now though, just watch her, and make sure it doesn't begin to develop into something it shouldn't.

Just break into her house and tape pictures of leukoplakia all around her bedroom.
No but seriously. Other than telling her how much you don't like it, there's not much you can do. It's her choice to make, no matter how gross it is. Just make sure she knows what it does to you, and how gross it is.

If they enjoy it and understand the risks associated; then who the hell are you to tell them to stop?
When you're an adult, you don't care if others do things like this so you wouldn't say anything. And when you're a teenager, you don't care what anyone else tells you. Either way, saying stuff to them probably won't work, particularly if they enjoy DAT NICOTINE.
(I love dat nicotine as well)

In my opinion, who gives a shit?
You're gonna need to deal with it. Personally I've stopped being friends with many girls who decide to drink or smoke on a daily basis, because they can dig themselves out of their own problems.
If they can't, their own loss.

well yes your cannot really change people or thier habits but maybe you can help her to change for herself - is there some info on the health risks you can give her - is there some help available to her you can help her access.
Is she chewing as a replacement for another habit/addiction
Maybe just try and stay freinds and help as you can or she will allow you to

It's chewing tobacco not fucking Heroin.
If you really want to get her something that won't give her cancer, give her some snuff. The old nasal tobacco people used to sniff up their noses. There hasn't been a single recorded case of cancer or a death in history from someone who only snuffed tobacco, but that's a side note.

Hey OP, If you are willing to break friends with someone over something as miniscule as chewing tobacco, you're not really a friend then, are you.
