Its been 4 months now that my bestfriend died. She was my life and my passion. She wasnt just a dog though she was much more than that. She was my alarm clock, bestfriend, snuggle buddy and more. she was put down April 25, 2012 just a week or so from being 14. Im 15 and that means we grew up together. We got another dog now but nothing can replace the empty pit in my heart. Just shortly after her death our family friend had to put down her dog named Max. Max was afraid of everything. She and i got along great my parents joke that she was my "girl friend" because she would never leave me. Even now 4 months down the road i m still crying and i cant belive they are gone.....:( my whole world crashed that week and i wish i could go back in time to saygood bye because i wasnt there for either of their deaths. RIP Grizzli <3 RIP Max <3

Oh wow. This is weird. Your name is dusty, and when I was 12 I had a dog named Dusty who had been with our family since my older brother was a baby. He was 17 when he died. I know how you feel, it really sucks losing a pet, especially one that you've grown up with. It took me a really long time to get over him passing, and my mom still isn't quite over it after 5 years, as that dog was like a child to her. Even I still cry thinking about it.

I'm sorry for your loss and I hope you start to feel better soon :) I know having a new pet helped me in some ways, and I hope in time it'll help you too. We got a bird when dusty died, and that bird is my best friend, but of course it's not the same.

Also, I know you didn't get to say goodbye, but it may be a good thing you weren't there to see her die. It's an image you'll never forget, and it's completely heartbreaking to see.

Again, I hope you start to feel a little better soon :)

Yeah, that's understandable. And that would be a little off-putting. But try not to think of it as replacing her, nothing could replace her.

She's a beautiful dog btw (:

sorry for your loss. my uncle got a dog just after i was born and i love her so much and when i got the news she passed i cried for a really long time and refused to do anything. i still cry, a lot, when i think of her even though its been about 4 years nothing could ever replace the place in my heart for her. no dog could ever come close to how much she meant to me.

I'm soooo sorry for your loss :( but think, if you had to put her down, she must've been in pain. But now shes on the rainbow bridges (look it up all you dog owners :) ) she loves you, and wouldn't want you to stay depressed because of her. Keep her in your heart, and live in her memory. nothing can replace her, but nothing needs to. This sounds kinda lame, but my vet said that sometimes dogs die when you're not home, because they don't want to see you that sad. I wish you the best! pm me if you ever want to talk. I've had four of my own dogs die...
