At what age do you think teens should be allowed to date??

In my opinion 15-16.
You can start getting jobs around that time, and your license. You'll have more independence of your family and just more freedom all around.
You can pay for dates with money you make and not wonder about allowance, drive to places yourself, if you've got your license, without having to worrying about walking or rely on a friend or parent to get you to places.
If you're super lucky and live in a town where the curfew stops taking effect for those over 16, you don't have to worry about the law, just parents.

Why does it matter, exactly? If some 10 year old wants to have a cute little fling, let them.
I think serious dating should start at 15+. Because like FreeFall said you can get a job, get your license, and you just start becoming more mature around that age.

People shouldn't be limited to how how young or old they are when it comes to dating, as long as their mind(s) are mature and understand common sense, it's enough..in my opinion.

Dating shouldn't have an age requirement because the level to which that relationship is will be different for a 10 year old to a 18 year old. What most people think of as dating should be once you enter high school.

Well my dad said I wasn't allowed to date until I was 16. Obviously he assumed I was going to date girls, but whatever.

I guess there is no age set in stone; I'm sure high school freshmen date at some level.

All I know is that I'm really not ready to date yet; I'd like another year of maturity under my belt. :)

Ya I'm going into Sophomore year now but Freshmen do date quite a bit. At my school, dating means doing everything and going all the way which isn't really a good idea.

Honestly, "teens" should be allowed to start dating whenever the hell they want. Because I had my first relationship when i was in second grade. Then in fifth grade, sixth, seventh, etc. It really started showing me how to be a better boyfriend everytime.

16. If your mom is dropping you off to your first date, you shouldn't be dating.

That's probably why I'm thinking 15 or 16. I know this sounds like some bizarre double standard, but two boys can't make a baby. So I hope these 14 yr olds know what they are doing, 'cuz there sure isn't anything positive about being a daddy at that age.

I think that 11 and under kid's don't really understand yet what a real relationship is. Even from 12 to 15 most relationships don't last and that is the ages where they are learning what relationships are. I am almost 14 and have been in a relationship over a year and I am taking it very seriously but none of my friends have had anything like that yet. If kids are still in elementary school they are probably too young but after that if they think they are mature enough then let them go for it. Then again I might just be saying that because of my age :p

Also this is me talking about real serious dating. If some 10 year old kid says they are dating someone it most likely means there is a boy/girl they think is cute and they play together and hug and hold hands sometimes lol and what's wrong with that? Nothing IMO

Thats why they should start dating then....You dont want to screw up things and look insecure at age of 18

Not necessarily. You can have had over 20 girlfriends, started dating at 8, and still be the worst boyfriend a girl can ever have at 18.

I think that one should start dating when they are mentally mature enough to be in a serious relationship. What age that happens at differs for each person. However, if one feels they are ready to date they should be allowed to date. Personally, I'd say around 15 or 16. But it's different for everyone, and if someone wants to date before that I'm not telling them they can't.

well it also depends on the people...you need to be mature and people mature at all different ages.

it should be up to the parents. I know some parents, especially Asians, would not let their son or daughter date until after college.....but I think 15 or 16 is a good age

Ya but Condoms are as common in my school as seeing a piece of paper lol. So no teen dads where I'm at.

Whenever you're mature enough.. seems dumb but whenever you understand the emotions that go along with it. For me that was 13-14, for a lot of people I'd say a bit later than that though.

There is not a minimum age for dating unless it's just for attention.

I don't think there should be an age limit. People don't know how long a person will be able to live their life, so people need to to start as early as possible to prepare for finding your 1 true love or to start looking for that person, at least.
