View Full Version : Hallucinations?

First of all i've never had any kind of mental illness. I still do not believe i have one, but i'm just here to get some kind of feedback.

In the past month or so i've been experiencing small hallucinations. Not enough for me to stand there and look at the hallucination, but just in my peripheral vision. For an example just this morning i had one. Next to my computer desk i have a window that faces out towards my backyard. I'll be doing something on my computer or whatever and out of the corner of my eye i saw someone walking in my backyard. Not enough even to make out details, just some kind of, i don't know.. entity? I don't want to call it an entity because its not any type of supernatural thing.

Anyways i'll have maybe a handful of those in a week. Sometimes i will also see just a flash of something run by me, or even just the feeling of something being there. Whatever these are, they are enough to make me look and think to myself, "did that just happen?" They aren't enough to ruin my life or anything drastic like that, but the hallucinations are starting to get annoying.

I am a daily user of marijuana, however i don't believe that would effect this. I've heard horror stories of cannabis smoke triggering schizophrenia, but most of that is put out by the media. (Oh and when i have these occurances, i'm not high)

Any information at all would be helpful. Thank you in advance. :)

I get those a lot too. I also used to smoke a lot of pot, but it's actually gotten more common since I stopped. I see things out of the corner of my eyes, or I'll think a spot on the wall is moving or something, but it's not. I also get the feeling of something or someone being there. I'd say it happens for me at least once a day. I don't really think it's a huge thing to worry about.

Ah yes, screen time. All day everyday.
That might be the cause, i will have a look into it.
As for my vision being impaired whilst high i've stated above that most of these occurances happen when i'm sober. (of course i can tell when i'm hallucinating due to drugs) also i know what floaters are, yes. These are not those.
I'll try to schedule an optician appointment, thank you. :)

You might be schizophrenic, but it might also be the weed. Because believe it or not, it does mess with your brain.

No, as i said i'm not able to make any details out. The hallucinations only last a second or two. And i have no idea what you were trying to say in the second sentence.

I experienced something similar to that when I was on some medication when I hurt my back. I found it really unsettling. I knew that it wasn't real, I could see the difference so it wasn't like I was asking 'Did you see that?' but just kept feeling like there was something flying past that I couldn't see. I spoke to my doctor about it, and he said there was too much of the drug introduced to my system to quickly or something, and wanted me to take some other drug to balance it out, but in the end I just stopped taking it and dealt with the pain.

I've had complex auditory hallucinations (i.e. voices) for about 10 years and visual for a few months. For me, the visual ones are a result of depression/mood disorder NOS and the auditory ones are exacerbated by it. However, my psychiatrist also said that hallucinations can be just a result of hormonal changes in the body. Many teens have them. You should definitely look into seeing a doctor, though, just to be sure!
