The Lonely Tree
I sit by the window late at night
Staring into the darkness
I am alone once more
Not knowing the cause
What was once had has disappeared
Though the pain's still there
But we both know we'll meet again
Even if the birds don't sing
The river will flow
And so descends the snow
But you won't see me
Lay beside the lonely tree
The truth is crystal clear
It's within your mind
Though the fog of mistrust
Can mystify your thoughts
I watch the world go by
Through different eyes
I hear the laughter and cries
But still I hide
The river will flow
And so descends the snow
But you won't see me
Lay beside the lonely tree
The circle is drawn
And the chalk is layed to rest
The birds sing once more
Though the tree isn't alone
I sit by the window late at night
Staring into the darkness
I am alone once more
Not knowing the cause
What was once had has disappeared
Though the pain's still there
But we both know we'll meet again
Even if the birds don't sing
The river will flow
And so descends the snow
But you won't see me
Lay beside the lonely tree
The truth is crystal clear
It's within your mind
Though the fog of mistrust
Can mystify your thoughts
I watch the world go by
Through different eyes
I hear the laughter and cries
But still I hide
The river will flow
And so descends the snow
But you won't see me
Lay beside the lonely tree
The circle is drawn
And the chalk is layed to rest
The birds sing once more
Though the tree isn't alone
