View Full Version : Sound issue

I'm not in the least computer savvy, and I need some help. The speakers to my computer are plugged in, connected to the computer, and the little blue light tells me they're on. The knob is turned all the way up. However, when I click the volume icon on my toolbar, nothing shows up, and when I go to sound on the control panel it says there are no speakers hooked up. Now, I would assume there's something wrong with the connection, but they'll just spaztically start working again for a period of like 5 minutes- the only reason I know is because of people on my buddy list constantly signing on or off. But like in WMP absolutely NOTHING will play b/c it says there's a "device error." So my question: is it the speakers or the computer and is there any way to fix it?

Try reinstalling your soundcard drivers? If that doesn't work, try replacing your sndvol32.exe file.

Lol yeeeeah I was sitting here scratching my chin like, "Hmm....soundcard...do I have one of those?? And what's a driver??" Lol I didn't even attempt to decipher the file :P
In the words of Denzel Wasington [in the movie Philadelphia], "Explain it to me like I'm a 4-year-old." Please :D

A driver is a like a piece of hardware software that everyone has eg. network adaptor or you random accesss memory
and aslo you probably will have a soundcard if you have played music before
try this Start-right click my computer-Properties-Hardware-device manager-
Click sound and then you will have a list of choices if you see a yellow exclamation that means you will need to re-install the drivers again
Hope this helps if you need anymore help just i'm just here
