If you're younger than 16, you shouldn't smoke, or at least you shouldn't smoke every day. Your brains aren't as developed and it can ruin your emotions in the future, similar to taking a SSRI anti-depressant for a lengthy period.
However, after 16/17 you can smoke all you want, you can't really do anything to change future brain chemistry by that age.

Ya I agree with that. Before 16 I don't suggest smoking a lot because I see the people that started smoking hard in like 7th or 8th grade and they are messed up now.
I don't smoke myself even though I did a couple times, for me there are much more important things to do and ones that won't set you back in any way.

I tried for the first time in 8th grade... maybe 13? Either way just on the edge of turning 14 or possibly already turned. As is customary I had a train wreck trip and almost dumped my stash so I'd never have to do it again, but I did it another couple times over the next few months and slowly came to like it. Then I got busted and decided to actually dump my stash before either parent got home, and haven't done it since.
Never liked it too much.

For those of you who smoke I suggest stopping now, this coming from someone who had smoked for over 10 years. Hence I said had, I have been sober for over a year and plan to keep it that way. Especially those who are under 23 it is not a good idea to start. I started when I was 11 and I am now 22 and can honestly say I wish I never inhaled that first hit.
I'm not going to try and lecture anyone but it really does interfere with your life goals and ability to think properly. Anyways, that is my two cents.. If you have any questions or need someone to talk to about these kind of topics feel free to message, I'll be around.

I started smoking with my sister when I was 12. I started smoking heavily the following year and when I was 14, I was smoking everyday, multiple times a day. Before school, after school, before bed, and in-between those times, but definitely at those times. I would smoke before meeting people or doing a big task, and just enough would take the edge off so I could do it.
As of now, I do not smoke everyday or even often at all. Maybe once in a blue moon. Very rarely.

I have never smoked weed in my life, and I have no desire to ever do it. I'm not hating on people that do smoke, I've just decided it's not really something I want to get into. I have plenty of friends that like it, but I think it's a bit overrated. I have also witnessed several people that have been negatively affected from smoking weed.

There is very, very critical brain development at the ages or 11-14 that can be interfered with if you consume cannabis. If you smoke, don't do it often for the love of christ.
After you're 16 or 17 you can smoke all day every day if you so desire.

I started smoking freshman year. After I started smoking pot, I realized that I wasn't suppose to be hanging with all these preps. I didn't have that much in common with them. Now I have a few close friends who don't and do smoke pot. It can change people. It just depends on how you act and if you can still do things you need to do before it comes to smoking pot.

Started 7th grade I took my first hit of a synthetic(fake) weed called "Climax". It was my first time so my reaction to was just plain and simple, trippy. After that hit I was a bit skeptical on if I should smoke some more, but a friend told me to just smoke regular or stronger weed and not fake(synthetic) stuff. He gave me a dime and taught me how to roll. After a while, I decided that I like smoking pot. I have been smoking for 3 years, although I do control my self.

if you did any actual research on cannabis you would find it isnt as bad as you think. First off, in thousands of years of known usage, no one has ever died from smoking or using cannabis. Read this thread, and do some of your own research not from government sites but non bias sources. The Shafer Report and a doco called The Union is a great place to start. Rick Simpson - Run From The Cure (can watch the whole video on youtube for free!) is another good one. Dont stop there, there is more where that came from.

did i once say that i even smoked pot in that post? Regardless if i do you making assumptions like that show how truly ignorant and close minded you are to the idea of a 'illegal drug' actually not being that harmful at all. Its healthier then most legal drugs (alcohol, tobacco, fuck even aspirin kills more people annually then cannabis ever has, same with caffeine). Its working out great for me, and it worked out great for many other prosperous individuals (Ted Turner, head of CNN news) and countless others. That link you provided was horrible by the way, when you look at sources, make sure they have ACTUAL studies that are credible and legitimate, not the first google page that pops up, anyone can create a website with anything on it...

I don't mean to hijack this thread but to the guy above me ^ (hello), those facts arent gonna make him think otherwise lol. Even though they're all true. For the most part.
But to whomever you are speaking to, just think about this. And this isn't direct quoting from the union or any other over watched video :p. marijuana has become recognized as one of the best medicines known to man. Or maybe I should say re-recognized, because it went through a sort of "dark time" (yes I named it that myself lol) when America banned it. Before then, and I mean WAY before then, up until that time, people had been using it as a remedy to all sorts of things. Mostly minor things that you would today use a white powder known commonly as aspirin or Tylenol for. But it also can be used as a remedy for other, more serious things such as epilepsy, and even non physical things such as ADD and anxiety. Now, I'm just speculating that it had been used for that, but it's a pretty educated speculation even though I am on my phone and too lazy to go searching for sources on that, although you can most likely find them. A famous case is that Queem Elizabeth used marijuana to help with the pain from menstraul cramps. Today, marijuana is used for many many many things. I know of a case where someone with bone cancer (it's a buddy of mines relative) and she doesn't like her medicine that she's prescribed. It makes her sick. So when she was given tincture (a liquid marijuana extract), I was told you could see the relief in her eyes and face, she was happy. She told my friend that it actually works, something so simple and harmless that comes from the ground eased her pain! And it wasn't a white powder made in a lab either! Tommy Chong actually BEAT cancer by eating an extract called hash over certain periods of time. He is now cancer free. It is a subject that is becoming more widely known, that marijuana if eaten in a hash extract, can slow down or STOP the process of cancer (in certain cases of course). It helps chemo therapy patients be able to swallow their food without vomiting it back up. I don't mean to keep rambling, but people need to understand that not everyone is just trying to get high, although that too is pretty much harmless. With prohibition, we are just throwing the baby out with the bath water. So many people could benefit from marijuana, and I guess the point I tried to prove was that no, it won't kill ANYONE. Rather it will only help. Do some research, the Internet is a wonderful thing.

^true shit, it also can help with symptoms of multiple sclerosis quite a bit. That's not even the tip of the ice berg, so many enterprises benefit from prohibition, especially pharmaceuticals because how can you make profit on something anyone can grow that can help with almost anything without any ill side effects? Its a shame that this cant go on, there is plenty people need to know but dont, this thread will probably be locked preventing even more (lazy aka cant research) people from viewing useful, non detailed, easy to understand facts.

I never said there were no negative effects, and also .gov websites shouldn't be sourced in this case, as they're the ones who are prohibiting the drug. Especially when the website is called "Drug Abuse.gov" I could smell the propaganda from a mile away.
The other sources seem more legit. But if you haven't yet, keep going with researching. Type in something like "recent marijuana studies" instead of things like "negative effects of marijuana". Not saying you haven't done this, I'm only saying if you haven't yet, you should.

beat me to it. Those sources dont actually include studies and how they were conducted and sample space, you need legitimate and credible sources, not government websites (completely bias). Also notice how almost every article listing negative effects use words such as "may, should, or linked" it never says it black or white, because they have no evidence. If you dont want to do it thats fine, as long as its an informed decision instead of a as you say close minded opinion of saying no its bad it kills you blah blah

I don't smoke but my friend used to smoke weed a quite but back in college. He was so addicted to it and then found a significant change in his lung function. Then he started to control his addiction and struggled with his habit. From his experience, I found that quitting weed is never easy it took lot of effort to get back in the right track. But, he got a normal happy life again and everything is under control now.
