Hi.
Believe it or not, if you do not know, there is over a million self-proclaimed nations in the world that very few other governments agree with. Some shining examples are South Ossetia, Transnistria, the new Azawad and Palestine. Many people see these governments as weak, and the current government in that area can take care of the people more and they have a more stronger claim to it. Opponents of that statement say that it is up to the people of that region to want to separate.
The only plauable candidate for Independence in 5+ years is Scotland, as a social-democratic nationalist party has took power in the Scottish Parliament, and in 2014 will vote on to remain British or not. However, Im sure one day Palestine will achieve Independence, and maybe also Tibet and East Turkestan after them. Other than that, who knows?
What do you think?

I said that because China is getting a bit more libertarian in it's policy, but It's still got a LONG way to go. I'm sure one day Tibet will achieve independence, But not in the near future. My guess? 50+ years, roughly. And then after/before that Sinkiang/East Turkestan will gain it's independence shortly before or after, because I am sure after one becomes independent there will be a huge explosion for supported succession for the other.

Oh, don't worry, I'm sure Zimbabwe will stop using the US Dollar one day and once that particular pressure tool is gone (along with IMF "economic" programs) and stability has been achieved and all sanctions have been lifted, they'll regain political control of themselves and be able to stop western companies from milking the country to death.

To an extent, I agree with you. But, think about this, Does Earth look like it is about to unify the right way? Oh sure, you got things like the UN and EU, But other nations like Iran, China, Russia and the U.S and terrorist groups are kind of ruining such a good dream. And, unless something happens fast, there not going to collapse any time soon. And think about this, We do not know if this "UEG" or "UNG" is going to be free and democratic or not. I rather have about 600 mil living in a dictatorship rather than 8 bil. I mean, a dictatorship is much easier to run for a group of people or one person than a democracy, eh? And, think about this, nations are not the only one with political power, of course. I am sure that corporations might get the upper hand in that unification too. And, lastly, you got the nuts who are all like "OMGZ ILLUMINATI!" that does not really want world unification because of that.
But, it was just for fun, really. Do not see why you would bring up such a subject.

I've heard that Texas (one of the 50 states) is trying to secede from the union because they have all the recources they need and feel the don't want to be part of the USA anymore. (I doubt they'll be able to though.)

Siberia is not a political region of land. Now, Yakutia, Tannu Tuva or Buryatia? Maybe, maybe.

New York.
Lol, just kidding. Might actually happen in the future though, the NYC metro area tried on multiple occassions to become its own state. Why not as a new country? It ia entirely capable of supporting itself and has the governance and nearby resources to do so.
Who knows. Maybe Scotland, though that would be a large blow to the unity of the UK and would possibly infer further scrutiny into the government actions and royalty of the United Kingdom.

If they're smart, they won't even try. Texas would be no sooner obliterated from this country's map than white on rice.
