I have an extreme phobia of alchohol and anyone that drinks it. My dad (oh jezus here it comes) was an extremely heavy drinker up until last year. He would come home nearly ever night drunk and pissed off. My mom and him would yell every night and sometimes he would come and yell at me and freak out. This was almost everyday of my life. Once time he forced my sister and I onto our atv. He was drunk as shit and almost killed us all by driving off a bridge. He would have if I had not grabbed the handle bars. Finally he got beaten at a party and decided to get help. He spent about 4 months and rehab and is now a great and loving father. Anyways here is my delima:I'm having issues with anxiety and fears of him returning to drinking and I want to tallk to my guidance counseler at school about it. I'm worried that she will call social services or whatever and have my family ruined. sorry to bother you with this.

I'm not sure if the rules and conditions under which a school guidance counseler does that, but in my school I'm pretty sure they don't unless the parent activly knowingly beats the student. And just in case it isn't that case in your school, nothing would happen for just asking.

Good luck! And glad to hear he's in rehab, getting help.

Well perhaps if you say to your guidance counselor "my father used to drink a lot, and he went to rehab and doesn't anymore, but here are my concerns..." Typically they can't call social services unless they think you are in danger or something, which I think they are bound by the law to do. So if you do talk to your counselor, be clear on what you mean to say so that they don't get confused accidentally, and you should be fine I believe. Good luck to you, I really hope things work out well for you :)
