View Full Version : Is Bisexuality in females natural or a trend?

I understand hormones play a huge part during puberty and it's important to allign yourself sexually, but doesn't it seem like an awful lot of females identify as bisexual? Has it always been this way but modern standards have made people more open to the idea?

Are females attracted to both genders naturally more so than males, or is it just the cool thing to do?

I think it might be that Women are more open-minded than men, and are more easily tempted (sorry to bash on you, girls XD.) but it could also be a trend. Studies show however that there are more gays than lesbians, but I do not know about bisexuality.

Is there a problem with them tending to be more bisexual than men?

We females tend to be more accepting and understanding than the average typical teen male, yes, so those that are bi or lesbian are not as afraid to come out about their orientation than a bi or gay male.
Also society has created this double standard where "girl-on-girl" is approved, even encouraged, but "man-on-man" isn't as appreciated. I blame the porn industries. I will say in middle school when nearly every girl and their mom went bi, I'm convinced it was because of Katy Perry's song I kissed a Girl and since everyone else was doing it they should too. They've recently "become straight again" as far as I see on FB.

That's just my opinion.

To be honest, the trends now suck.
All of the girls want to act like they have social anxiety, or that their bisexual, or that everyone hates them-even if their one of the most popular people in the school.
Its really annoying, and very aggravating to the people who actually do have social anxiety. They get bullied for not being able to stand up for themselves, while the popular people try and put themselves in that position. Its very mean, even if its not intentional.

Don't get me wrong, guys do the same thing, just with different standards.
The trends suck, and they're only going to get worse.

I think it's a trend for some girls to claim to be bisexual. The girls might be more comfortable with other girls so it allows them to experiment and stuff.

I dont like people that think its a 'trend' people like that pee mee off, why change your sexuality to be the same as others.

I believe its just because women may be more unsure on their sexuality, or more to the point dont want to label it. Its a big thing as a teenager determining your sexuality. Maybe men just take longer to come out? Or maybe being bisexual is so much more accepted its easier to come out.

Personally i dont see it as a trend, i just see it as people becoming more open with themselves and others

Because that's the way our world is becoming. No one is original anymore, everyone is a copy. And everyone will die a copy. Reality sucks, huh?

I sort of agree with Fran, and then I sort of don't.

I do believe more people are becoming open minded about it, and more people are willing to try it now, but I also feel some people do try it, or associate themselves with it and really be heterosexual for the attention.

That being said, I know of some hetero men acting gay to get closer to girls so they're cooler with them being around them(weird shit man).

Personally I can't see there being more bi women than men. Maybe more bi women are open about it, maybe it's because the media portrays more bi women than men(it also portrays them as more promiscuous.)

That and not many people may notice bi-men because they are more masculine acting, so it's not as noticeable.
And everyone will die a copy. Reality sucks, huh?
It only affects you as much as you want to believe it ;).

Not everyone's a copy. Most people in my school follow what each other do but few people like me and a few other people dont do anything they they. we avoid what they do because we dont want to be like them. The few of us dont the same things we all do different things but we dont what the rest of the school population does.

In majority everyone's a copy, whether you want to believe it or not. Sure there are some people who aren't, but those are hard to come by.

There's no such thing as original and there hasn't been for a long, long time.

Great job on that post, it was much easier on the eyes. There will always be trends regarding fashion, media, and activities. Not associating with people widely seen as inferior is part of human nature, and we're all guilty of it at one point or another. It's a matter of whether you go out of your way to make someone feel bad or make a habit of it that determines character.

I think there are the same amounts of bi people in both the male and female population. Males however are a lot more oppressed in terms of sexuality, whereas girls are encouraged by boys to be bisexual. Boys like lesbians, but girls don't really care about gays.

Nope. Bisexuality is the same for both. Natural and (hopefully) accepted.
