Okay so I'll just tell you flat out. My dad is 66 years old and my mom is 44 and I'm 15. (I know, weird, right?) Anyways... Since my dad is so old... I'm always so worried that he will die when I'm still really young... I know some people who are in their thirties and forties telling me about how their fathers died of cancer and stuff... And I would hate to be like 21 talking about how my father died of old age and stuff... Sometimes I just get depressed and wonder why my dad decided to have me when he was so old.. And I wonder why he would want to put me through that pain... I don't hate him or anything... I just wish he had me earlier or something...

Well first off, you'll never know unless you ask him. Secondly, I don't think at all that your dad decided to have a child with the intent of dying soon so that that child would have to experience the pain of losing him. Your dad just happened to be older than normal when he and your mother had you, and I'm willing to bet they take great pride and joy in you, and would never wish any harm or pain on you.

Death is a natural part of life that we al have to come to terms with on our own.Your dad may die when you're young, but then again you may not. I think it would really help you if you told him about your fears. I'm sure he can offer much more comfort than me or anyone else on the internet :daisy:

Once again valerie you have beaten me too it with a great reply too :D

Ok to start my mums dad died of heart failiure when she was 2, my dads dad died when he was 7 and they both turned out fine....

I think that your dad would have probally wanted to have had children at an younger age but just didnt get round to it I dont know why maybe he needed to consentrate on work or maybee he hadn't found the right women? anyway all i can tell you is he didnt intend to have you at an old age and im sure he didnt intend to make you anxious and worry about it! I would enjoy him while he is on this planet!

Maybe he decided to have you because he loved your mother and loves you?

In general.. Don't think about it.. Just enjoy the fact that you have a father.

Well, there's nothing anyone can do about it now, so just make the best of the time you have left with him. As you get older, prolly closer to your 20s, I think you'll get over that fear of losing your parents.
