I just ignore them if they are the nasy types or if they are freindly is a joky way I just say something like have o be quick and get lube if you want to join in

Anyone calling you gay when you aren't is just using one of many things to try to intimidate and bully you. Don't get paranoid they chose 'gay' its just anything they can think of : I once had a guy on a bus start going on about my alleged earwax. I am not joking, this freak thought I was going to get scared of him because he was ..... mocking my earwax. I thought he was talking to someone else and pretty soon after I realised it was me a woman told him to stfu which was funny.

Handle it like any bullying situation : ignore it if at all possible and/or report it (sooner rather than later).

Funny come backs and put downs only tend to work on TV. Humour can diffuse things, but in real life you are just as likely to get punched out. Some people like to talk themselves up and make out they destroyed some guy with a comeback, but I've never seen it with my own eyes.

I have had many people tell me I was gay behind my back. And so when someone told me that someone told me I was gay, I told them well tell they are wrong. I am straight. I don't know why people were too scared to tell it in my face, because it doesn't hurt as much as knowing what people are talking about behind my back.

Ignore them. It's not even worth it to engage in their childish word flinging. All you really need to say is "No, I'm not gay" and leave it at that. Assert yourself once, and then show them that it doesn't bother you. Even if they DO keep going at it, don't engage in them because then they will continue.

Or something shocking of the sorts. Depends if you're not insecure about being called gay as a straight person, or if you are actually gay and are out of the closet. If you're straight and insecure about being called gay, you may want to choose to NOT go the witty route.

I was always taught to retort with something, if it doesn't outright stop them in their tracks, that is hard for them to beat. What are they going to do after that example? Laugh at you? Say "I bet you would lol?" Maybe I haven't been in school for a while but big deal :P

Just don't ignore them, and don't get upset. You always want to come out on top and you pretty much lose with either of those. Any type of satisfying reaction out of you is exactly what they want, and ignoring does count because then they can see they got to you. That was how I dealt with bullies until I realized they still keep doing it. If you don't give them that, then it's less fun and they may move on to someone who will give them the reaction they want.

I'm rather femme for most idiots to try the "dyke!" "insult" with me but I always love to say similar lines. "I know, I'm just so gay! I love breasts too much!"
