I've been dating the girl of my dreams for about 3 weeks now.. officially that is. We were basically dating for about a month before that. She always says that she hates anything clingy. She also said that she hates it when someone tries to comfort her when she's upset, she hates hugs then especially. Yet yesterday I had it over for the first time and she got really upset about something. She tried to cover it up for awhile, but finally she just gave in and told me that I knew her too well. I asked her if she wanted to talk about it and just got a string of excuses and trying to change the subject. The whole time she was getting really close to me, sort of cuddly even. When she saw that I had noticed, she made an excuse to go outside and do something else. I know how she was in her past. She was always really close to her ex, she trusted him completely, she really let him in. He did nothing but hurt her. I feel like maybe she's just scared to get too attached or let someone in too much.. It almost feels like she wants the comfort when she's down, she wants someone who is clingy to a degree, but she's scared of the fact that she does want it. Also, we were best friends for a year and a half before dating and close friends long before that. She's said before she's scared if she gets too close to me it'll ruin any chances of going back to friends after any (hypothetical) breakup that may occur. So I guess opinions? Any girls out there feel this way too?
