Hi.
In my home nation is good ol' Rossiya, especially where I was raised, we usually had Venison for our meat. What is Venison? Venison is meat from game animals (deer, hares and wild pigs.) and we had a lot of reindeer since we were some-what close to Scandinavia.
If you do not know what it tastes like, Cervidae Venison (deer) is a lot like beef, but "sweeter." In fact, Cervidae Venison is some of the most lean and healthiest meat in the world. I never ate the other two, though :P
I know it's popular in Europe and Australasia, but it does not seem that big in North America. Anywhom, whats your thoughts on it? Because, I think Cervidae Venison is freaking delicious.

I have tried it. I love it. I wish that it was more well known here and you could get it from a lot more places.
It is really delicious.

I've had deer and squirrel. Deer steak is really good. Probably just about as good as beef steak, I'd say. Squirrel tasted like chicken to me, so I liked it fairly well.

I've had it before. It was ok, but (this was probably just because of how it was prepared) it was a bit gamey for my personal tastes. I'd try it again, under different preparations though.

Out here in CA, venison just means deer... Pigs are wild pork and hare is rabbit.
I've had it, yes. If you marinate it well enough, it takes care of the "gaminess" and I like my meat on the lean side, too. My brother works on a ranch in Montana, a good ways out from town, and for a while he quit drinking beer (he ran out) and didn't bother going to town for groceries, so he lived mainly off of what he hunted in his spare time. Trimmed off whatever fat was left and really toned him down. Felt way better and you could see he was more muscular. Pretty crazy what real food can do to you.

Eating bacon wrapped venison is the equivalent a super hot guy giving you a lap dance.

Deer meat is fantastic! Where I live pretty much the only way to get it is to hunt. I know a hunter who is getting me into it. Iv'e never killed a deer before, But I tried a bit of the last years supply from him.

I'm from Arkansas, around here, most people are like, what's beef, is that another name for rabbit? I'd go far enough to say that our school serves deer instead of beef in our hamburgers and stuff. It's fairly legit.

I've had it as a burger but I didn't really taste it all that much. It was over marinaded in a sauce and all you could really taste was the sauce.

Heck Yeah! Deer steaks, sausage, nuggets, and chilli is all good! If you get it in hamburger meat, then you can do a lot with it! Its even a bit healthier because its more lean.

No, but I really want to try it. The supermarkets are just starting to stock it here, until recently you probably needed a specialist butcher in a rural town to get it.

As long as it's cooked properly with a fat instead of an oil, I love it. Any type, or cut!

...so inspired by this thread I cooked it tonight, venison steak with dauphinoise potatoes and sauteed mushrooms. It was delicious although a little bit rarer than I intended, will definitely cook it again.

Yes I have, I liked it soaked in wishbone italian dressing overnight and grilled. It's really the only way I've had it except for jerky.
