This is more a debate than a thread about drug abuse.

yes, cannabis is a drug. drugs affect normal body functions. cannabis affects the brain by introducing THC which interferes with the cannabinoid receptors causing different stuff to happen such as memory loss and motor coordination impairment. If it makes you feel any better caffeine is a drug too. :)

I agree that marijuana is not bad in a majority of cases, but it is indeed a drug. Drugs do not mean that it's bad. Tylenol is a drug. Children's medication are drugs. Caffeine is a drug.
Cannabis is a drug. That's not a debate. However, it's a drug that does good things.

Weed IS a drug. A drug is "a substance that has a physiological effect when ingested or otherwise introduced into the body, in particular." So yes, it's a drug. But it's not a hard drug.
You don't smoke BAD weed? Is there bad weed? I wasn't aware that dro was good and say kush or regs was bad lmao. Unless you're referring to spice as "bad weed"

Spice is not real, it's synthetic marijuana that is supposed to be herbal essence.
But, yes, it is a drug. However, not a harmful one unless laced with another drug like cocaine or LSD. I actually smoke it every now and then, and it actually HELPS in life instead of ruining it.

Marijuana is a drug in the sense that it gives a psychoactive experience. You don't manufacture it though, you grow it. (obviously)
The bad part about marijuana? Some people don't know how to control their usage.
But, yes, it is a drug. However, not a harmful one unless laced with another drug like cocaine or LSD.
You can't lace marijuana with lsd, it evaporates too fast.

Yes, weed is a drug. Don't believe me?
The word "drug" according to the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act:
A substance other than food intended to affect the structure or function of the body
There is no debate.

As everyone has pointed out, weed is a drug. It's ridiculous that you would make a claim like that.

Weed is a drug, like most others pointed.
But so is nicotine, coffeine, taurine, etc...
The real question is whether or not is it a harmful drug, and I think we've been discussing that alot in the thread about legalizing marijuana.

Cannabis is strictly a medecine. Cannabis has a spiritual belief and many people believe it has healing powers. Though it can be addictive so is morphine which is a pain killer.

Both of which are drugs. There are several different types of drugs.

There are many good things that is cannabis. Many professional people say that cannabis is good medical resource. This is why it is recognise in many countrys as positive to help with medical conditions. Memory loss can be a good if it help a person forget bad things that happen to them.

I don't disagree but this was about whether "weed" is a drug or not and it is. Only a fool would believe it is not.

Cannabis is a drug. That's not a debate. However, it's a drug that does good things. Tylenol kills on average 15,000 people per year and hospitalizes over 50,000 while caffiene kills about 10,000 per year.
You know that marijuana has killed 0, and crack cocaine - less than 300 people.
Legal drugs are hundreds of times worse than illegal drugs, even if they're both drugs. Your child is more likely to die from tylenol once in awhile than if you smoked him out daily.
To this day I can't fathom why marijuana gets a suburban mother 10+ years in jail and feeding painkillers and SSRI's to children makes them good parents.

Weed is a drug. Period.
Even if it's medical, it's still a drug.
No way in hell, would weed be classified as not a drug. Even if it's legal.
At that point, it just becomes a legal drug.

Yes it is a drug. But I believe it's not that much of a harmful drug. People say its a gateway drug, which it Isn't. Only a small percentagege of people actually go onto more stronger and hardcore drugs after using marijuana. It does however negatively effect developing lungs (which can be found at the above the influence site). But allowing and legalizing can greatly help the economy, and according to Forbes magazine. It can help the national debt to be reduced by a nice number.

Something is classified as a drug if it is a chemical that causes temporary, noticable change in your body/mind, so if you look at it that way, weed itself is not a drug, the THC that weed contains is a drug. But either way, a drug is defined by whether or not it causes a significant change in your body/mind, not whether it is bad or good for you.

Weed is a drug, but not necessarily a bad drug, until you add the crap that makes it addictive. The fact that you run everyday is irrelevant, really. There are people in this world are super smart even though they smoke weed.

Yes it is but isn't Advil, and ibuprofen. Pepto-bismol and NyQuil/DayQuil are too but they are all helpful drugs. So is marajuana , but it heals and helps people. It motivates people to do things. So yes it is a drug but a healing drug.

Most of the world drinks alcohol, if it were a gateway drug, most of the world would be doing drugs. Alcohol isn't even a drug, and it's not a gateway drug.

Well yea technically it's a drug, but like some people said, as is tylenol, caffeine, alcohol, and tobacco. Really I don't think it should be illegal, it's about as bad as tobacco. Though it does threaten health, it does not kill or wreak people's lives.

Most of the world drinks alcohol, of it were a gateway drug, most of the world would be doing drugs. Alcohol isn't even a drug, and it's not a gateway drug.
This might be one of the most idiotic and ignorant posts I've seen in a long time. You clearly have no idea what you're talking about so why even bother sticking in completely false information? Alcohol is in fact a drug, a fairly dangerous one at that. How can you possibly deny it being a gateway to use other drugs?
Lets start by defining the term "drug". This is Oxford Dictionary's definition of the term.
Drug: A substance that has a physiological effect when ingested or otherwise introduced into the body
Could you please tell me how that definition does not apply to alcohol?
If you drink large quantities of alcohol on a regular basis you run the risk of becoming addicted. Experts estimate that one in 17 people (6.4%) in Great Britain depend on alcohol to get through the day. This can have serious effects on their families, friends and partners, as well as their mental health.
Teens who drink alcohol are 7.5 times more likely to use any illicit drug, and 50 times more likely to use cocaine than young people who never drink alcohol.
Alcohol ranks "most harmful" among a list of 20 drugs, beating out crack and heroin when assessed for its potential harm to the individual imbibing and harm to others, according to study results released by a British medical journal.
When a person consumes alcohol, the drug acts on nerve cells deep in the brain. Alcohol initially serves as a stimulant, then induces feelings of relaxation and reduced anxiety. Consumption of two or three drinks in an hour can impair judgment, lower inhibitions, and induce mild euphoria. Five drinks consumed in two hours may raise the blood alcohol level to 0.10 percent, high enough to be considered legally intoxicated in every state. Once a drinker stops drinking, his or her blood alcohol level decreases by about 0.01 percent per hour.
These four quotes (which I have cited below) show that alcohol is in fact addictive, is a gateway drug, can be harmful if abused, and affects the body in a very similar fashion to other drugs.
So there you have it. These four credible sources say that alcohol is a drug, while you do not. I'm going to take the credibly sourced information over your ignorant, unsupported word. If you can prove this wrong then please do so and please show me what you have to support yourself with. I will crawl back into my hole and never peek out again.

Cannabis is a drug, but so is aspirin.
It's not really a bad drug, but it's not exactly helpful either.
