Hey guys, ive recently been diagnosed with dsthymia, but i've been suffering for, what i think is about the last 5 and a bit years. Anyway on topic i want a tattoo and i want to include something about this, a kind of if i can come with this i can cope with what ever life throws at me kind of thing. i was thinking of "It is always darkest before the dawn", but recently ive decided i want something completely opposite to that, something which is symbolic about an eternal struggle or something like that, anyone got any ideas?
never been the writer type, but if someone could come up with something i would be eternally grateful.

Well, I'm going tomorrow to get one that says Break Away. To me it means two things, first breaking away from the stereotypical society and being my own person, and then the other thing it's saying break away from my past and the things I've done and my struggles. That might not help you, but it's the best I got.

I agree. ^ I love the tattoos on there. You could always get a quote about overcoming struggles.

I have one buddy who is 19 (I am 13) he has low moods and depression which can be like your diagnosis, but these things are differant for everybody. anyways he got a sort of handcuff tattoo and chain on one wrist only. Now this only works with good buddies who care and I hope you have some, but when he covers the tattoo with a watch large sort of army wriststrap it means he feels ok to be asked / invited to stuff. If its not covered we know he feels bad and we just hangout or whatever he wont say much then just gets up calls his Mum or Dad to come collect him.

Other times he is ok and will come gym, swim, run with us or just hang out

Hope this helps -

You could just get a one-word thing, like "broken," "eternal," permanent," fight(er)," and so on, or even a picture like a caged bird, or a skeleton in chains. I dunno. It's really your choice.

in anicent Japan, when a clay pot got broken, they repaired the cracks by filling them with pure gold. They did this because they place increased value on things that have been broken, believing that being broken adds more character strength and beauty to an object.
I think this could apply to people too
I've always thought about filling my "cracks" with gold.
