Like the title says, what are some of your favorite rock albums of 2012 so far? By "rock", I mean any kind of rock, metal or alt. Mine kinda spread out, most are either hard rock or post-hardcore. Here are "a few" (ha!) of mine, not really in order.

Slash - Apocalyptic Love
The Offspring - Days Go By
Marilyn Manson - Born Villain
Smile Empty Soul - 3's
Halestorm - The Strange Case of...
Attack Attack! - This Means War!
John 5 - God Told Me To
lostprophets - Weapons
Deuce - Nine Lives
The Word Alive - Life Cycles
Memphis May Fire - Challenger
Every Time I Die - Ex Lives
Cavo - Thick As Thieves
Miss May I - At Heart
Janus - Nox Aeris
Adrenaline Mob - Omerta
Celldweller - Wish Upon A Black Star
Enter Shikari - A Flash Flood of Colour
Ministry - Twitched
Pierce The Veil - Collide With The Sky
16 Volt - Supercoolnothing
Prong - Carved into Stone
3 Pill Morning - Black Tie Love Affair
Portugal. The Man - American Ghetto
Lacuna Coil - Dark Adrenaline
Hurt - The Crux
Evans Blue - Graveyard of Empires
Aranda - Stop The World

Wow, I just realized how long my list is. Holy shit. And that's not even all of it. Anyway, what do you think of my list, and what are your favorites so far?

Probably because I haven't listened to a bit of those bands at all this year, I'm going to say El Camino - The Black Keys. I realize it was released in December of last year, but it's ranked pretty much all it's singles this year, as well as receiving most radio play this year.

Tenacious D - Rize Of The Fenix.

Cavo's Thick As Thieves has to top the list for me. That is AMAZING, but also:

Halestorm: The Strange Case Of...
Saving Abel: Bringing Down the Giant
Slash & Myles Kennedy: Apocolyptic Love (Although the vocals are too damn quiet!

Super excited to hear Three Days Grace's newest as well.

Considering your username I'm kinda shocked you didn't say MMI's new album

I thought Slash's new album was perfect. Then again, my head is so far up his ass I can almost see out of his mouth.

Hmmm... Maybe Spotify screwed me over then. Great songs either way!

Just realized, some of those albums are not rock albums.

Such as, Pierce The Veil and The Word Alive, those are both post-hardcore.

Read the OP, any form of rock. Post-hardcore, being a sub-genre of a sub-genre of a sub-genre of rock, would be rock.

Amaryllis by Shinedown is by far the best new release this year IMO.

However, I have high hopes for Three Days Grace's "Transit of Venus."

The Electric Age by Overkill in my opinion definitely belongs here.

That's a great album. I heard it a few months ago and forgot about it until just now.

Me too. Have you heard their new single, Chalkboard, or Chalkdust, something like that? I really liked it, it sounds like they're going after an industiral metal sound influenced by Marilyn Manson and NIN. Which is awesome.

Rock > Punk > Hardcore > Post-Hardcore
Class dismissed.

Eh. Hmm. It's been a pretty horrid year for rock albums. Marilyn Manson was... okay. I mean, I would strike it from the list but it isn't like I have albums fighting for a place on it.

Oh my god, I can't even remember what came out this year. I keep thinking of 2011 albums... I wrote down three of them thinking they were 2012! :P

Touch wood, I'm going to go ahead and say Theatre is Evil - Amanda Palmer even though it hasn't come out yet.

I don't think I can make a full list without stretching the rock definition even further than you already have... lol. Can I count Emilie Autumn - Fight Like A Girl? (I guess industrial if we could count it. I find it really hard to label her.) Cause that was the highlight of the year so far. Umm. Fuck. Can I even say I like rock music? o.O

Atom Smash's new album is pretty good. Not as good as Love is In The Missle, but a solid effort.
