View Full Version : Right Side Hurts

I wanna get into better shape but never really get to, and I think it's because I'm out of shape in physical activity.
Whenever I run or jog too long my lower right side hurts until I stop working out.
I kno this of course is not symptoms of Appenticitis because I had my appendix removed in 2010 so I kno it's not that since I know appendicitis's real symptoms.
Does anyone know what this is? I really hope I don't need to go to the doctor for this since my dad is laid off and doesn't have Health Insurance for us right now.

What you are describing appears to be, in all aspects, a stitch in your side. The most common of these is dehydration, so make sure you're drinking plenty of water. You can read more about what a stitch in your side is here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Side_stitch
I've had them before, when I was less fit. I still get them occasionally, but getting into better shape and staying hydrated pretty much took care of them for me. It's nothing to be worried about :)

Yeam mate its a stitch, as a trainer I see them all the time. Its not really known exactly what causes them but its to do with your diaphragm and exhaling during physical activity/ When they do come, stop and stretch it out. Be sure to keep hydrated.

I had the exact problem when I was conditioning for cross country. My coach made me lie on small ball (a tennis ball will do) I guess to stretch the muscles. It was painful at first, but gradually the pain lessened as my body got used to it and it really helped get rid of the stitch.

It seems that your getting stiches this can be from a few things.
Maybe try cycling or something that isnt as hard as running till you adjust to excersizing more
