I don't necessarily mean drinking every day, but like the first time they ever drink at a party or something. What do you think the mean age is for "normal" (have a lot of friends, go to parties at least every other week, don't know what reddit is, etc) teens to drink for the first time?

I drank for the first time when I was 14 or so.

I prefer weed over alcohol.

I voted for 16 since alot of 16 yr olds in my area seem to end up in ditches, wrapped around trees or power poles.but Idk for sure when they started drinking. my Father started me on beer when I was 4 Mom taught me how to make a few mixed drinks at 8 beings that I had to sample them to be sure it was right I started drinking booze at 8. oops I guess I'm not a normal teenager lol !

i was younger than any of the selections, but I was not a regular user at allllll for alcohol. I drank maybe a year in between every timee. I said "regular" kids get drunk for the first time around 14 but its probably a little later

14 or 15... I started last year when I was 14, I was just scared of getting caught before that! lol... Now it's something to do every once and a while for fun. It really helps out that my parents are ok with it also, so i'm not sneaking around behind their backs..

Define "normal teenager".
The average age at which Americans begin drinking regularly is about 16 years old.
The average age for trying alcohol is 11 years for boys, 13 years for girls.

I think the suitable age is 16 or 17. Unfortunately a lot of kids start drinkind alkohol from the age of 12. In my opinion, they are too young for this.
I have never drunk alkohol, I don't like it.

I'd say 15/16 if it's parties. I started drinking at about 12 though, my sister at 10ish. Maybe a few nights a week. Don't know if that counts?

i started taking sips from 40's when i was 9, just to get a taste, started regularly drinking when i started making friends and started chilling with em, around 13. ussually 40's/24's malts, dominican presidentes, hennesys, patron, things like that, not necessarily hard vodka's and shit like that, gradually it would increase consumption wise as we made older friends, and realized our role models shifted from politicians and sports figures to og mack and 50 cent. thats just me though. i wouldnt say its normal, for most kids like yourselves, suburban kids, its whenever you really start getting into the partying crowd, for some kids its when your 14, for others its college.

I don't think that the age really matters, as long as you have a back-bone, are responsible and be careful when it comes to the quantity, type of drink and frequency. But still, drinking at the age of 14 ( and younger ) is not good for the body. Drinking alcohol just because it's "cool" or other people do it it's just stupid.

What the hell...

I've made the choice to abstain from alcohol and weed. My track mar- I mean record doesn't lie.

But I'm a boring son of a bitch, so what do I know.

I voted for 17, because I misread your poll question, but for most I know, it was early. Like 11 or 12, but for me it was about 13.

I would say about 15-16. I first drank when I was 15 and a few months later I actually got drunk and I was 16. Most kids here do it at this age because they start knowing more people over 19 who can supply or they're willing to take their parents'

I think most teens that do drink started drinking at around 15 or 16, but I started drinking when I was 11. My first drink was wine, ironically. And my grandparents told me I could.

I put down 16. Most of my sophomore friends have had it...

Well from july 9th to july 19th I was in Italy. (check my posts if you don't belive me.)

There are no underage drinking laws there. My mom let my have a 16 ounce Castello. (italian brand)

It was pretty awesome. (I was and still am 14.)

I drank alcohol for the first time when I was 5. I really got into drinking when I was 13, now i'm an alcoholic. It's a pain in the ass though because it seems like I always want booze.

Here in the Philippines, the legal age to drink is 18, but almost anyone like a five year old boy can buy alcohol from run down areas.

People my age in the poor areas usually drink liquor as if it were water.

I said 14 but my first drink was around 12. i hit up all the 1/2 empty glasses at a cousin's wedding reception. Mostly champagne. What a headache the next day. Didn't drink again til 14.

I voted 16 because many of my friends are alcoholic and they are 16. I'm also 16 years old but I never touched alcohol or beer, my parents are very strict. I make coffee and light up a cigarette whenever I'm depressed.

Probably 14 or 15 unfortunately. I tried it the same time I tried a lot of other stuff when I was 13-14. But I don't really do any of it now.

Most people seem to either start really young or just wait until 21 (or never) to drink.

Well, I mean you know, they don't absolutely have to start drinking. I'd say around 14 to 15. Mainly when they start High school.

I first drank at a party when I was in year 9, probably about 3 cans. I didn't drink again until a week or two ago when I went with my friend to some fair in a town to see some people, and in contrast to my quiet village life, there were about 30 people my age all smoking and drinking. I denied their offers of tobacco but I had about 2 bottles and 2 cans.

So probably 14-15 depending where you're from.

I think the popular kids start at 15/16. I'm not "starting" until I am 21 though haha. And by starting, I mean a bottle/can thing by myself. I mom gave me some black velvet whiskey stuff when I was sick with a sore throat.

I think average is about 15 or 16 depending on the person. I've never drank and don't really ever want to start though. Alcohol just seems like a pointless expense that causes unnecessary health problems, in my opinion.

I started drinking regularly at 13. I used it as an anti-depressant which I realize now and I have sense then quit drinking.
