Its not that I can't stand this part of the forums, but I was hoping i could do this on my own. Frankly, I'm clueless and what I'm attempting is going to shit so far.
I've been trying to lose weight this summer, but its not going as great as I had hoped. I know I can't expect instant results without practically starving myself or exercising 24/7, but I do want it to go slightly faster.
On May 25, school got out and I decided "Hey, I'm going to lose some weight over the next year so I can get healthier." Well, I started at 181.6 pounds and last I weighed myself (a few hours ago when I woke up), I was down to 174.8
I know, some people will think "Why are you complaining? Thats nearly a pound a week, that's really good!". Well, my problem is I want to lose it just a little faster.
Could anyone tell me how much I should exercise daily, on top of dieting, to lose a pound and a half a week? Please be specific if you name a particular workout that should be done. Just to give a little info to my eating habits.. I'm cutting out junk food as much as I can (though I still give in eventually and eat SOMETHING bad for me) and I'm drinking nothing but water. Oh, and I'm about 5'6" if that helps. Thanks.

Sounds like you are doing pretty well. Ok, this is only a temporary solution, not something you can do long term, but look into high protein low carb diets. Carbs are what give you energy to do stuff, so if you don't eat any then your body has to burn its own fat to use for energy. i have never tried it myself but i've heard a lot of people have good results with it. but it is just a temporary thing, it wouldn't be healthy to eat like that all the time. 4 weeks would be fine though. http://www.teambeachbody.com/home/-/dl_get_file/32ea4c06-2287-4660-8adc-8db758929d28 Check out this one - phase 1 fat shredder part to give you some ideas.
Also sign up to one of the online calorie counting websites if you haven't already.
Exercise-wise I would look into HIIT, which is high intensity interval training, its supposed to be one of the best ways to burn fat. say with running, you'd sprint for 60 seconds and then walk or jog for 30 seconds, then repeat. but you don't have to do it with running, it'll work with whatever exercise you like best. And some random facts - jump rope can burn almost 1000 calories an hour and shadow boxing burns over 500 calories an hour. both are practically free and work well with HIIT. what kind of exercise do you like? if you let me know then maybe i will have some more ideas for you.
Hope this helps a bit.

Like Tommy said, low carb is a good way to do it.
A better way to do it is carb cycling- this is where you go low carb for three days, and then on the fourth day you eat a lot of carbohydrates to keep your metabolism high.
The idea behind low-carb diets is that high-carb stuff triggers an insulin response, so the food is stored as fat. When you have low blood sugar, the opposite of an insulin response occurs- your body turns the fat back into blood sugar, so be sure to combine it with high-intensity workouts like sprints and plyometrics.
Good luck!

If you are looking for exercising tips, just up the number of repetitions you do. You didn't mention what you did for exercising (if anything), but if you go to a gym for a half hour, go for a half hour and then do a 1.5 mile run at the end of it, or something that will burn calories at the end of your workout, when you're tired and don't have any energy left.
I know, doesn't make sense, but it worked for me when I had a little weight to lose.
As for the diet, high protein and low carb is a good temporary diet, but when transitioning back to a normal diet, replace junk/fatty foods with vegetables and fruit, and keep exercising.
Good luck!

Dont go faster it will end up legit killing you. If u loose to much weight to fast you heart cant handwl it and you will have a heart attack. Trust me on this. And you dont have to starve your self and exersize all the time. You will loose more weirght eating a balenced diet and exercizing every other day. Your body needs a break dude, dont push it. So if u really want better results then take my advice, pace your self.

k dont be scared about going faster, ive dropped alot more faster doing my cutting then that so i dont know what hes talking about heartattacks already.
no starving, ur body just holds what u do eat as fat. do cardio 2 times a day everyday, once in the morning once at night for 30 minutes, just do a light jog nothing more. monday and tuesday, thursday and friday lift weights. kinda go like chest, legs, shoulders+arms, back.
what it comes down to is eat every 3-4 hours, and eat one serving of carbs and a serving of protein and a serving of veggies. look up specific serving sizes so u know how much u will be eating

Sounds like a big change, if I was you I would carry on whatever you are doing now in order to lose it, but in order to loose a pound you need to burn 3000 calories!

Omg ! That is plenty fast cuz you're still growing.
You'll look impressive by the start of school and by Halloween you'll bemore than fine.
Any faster and you'll injure yourself and gain it back. It took a while to put it on, so take it off in same time.

Eat healthily and exercise regularly.
I suggest that if you are so desperate to lose that weight, you should visit a dietitian who will give you a set diet plan to make you thinner. Go to the gym and exercise with a personal trainer and work hard at it.
If you do not wish to visit a dietitian, then this is a basic alternative diet plan; eat 5 small, balanced meals daily, with a small, healthy snack (i.e a fruit) between each meal, cut down on processed foods such as chips or chocolates (with the exception of dark chocolate... Dark chocolate is the only healthy chocolate you can eat), cut down on trans fats and unsaturated fats and exercise regularly for 1 hour a day. To burn fat, carbohydrates are necessary, although do not eat an excess amount because then it will turn into fat. And eat healthy carbohydrates like green, leafy vegetables, sweet potato, potato, rice (preferably brown) etc.
Try to get at least 1 hour of exercise daily. Try jogging, swimming and cycling especially as cardio burns fats well. I heard that if you exercise with a steady heart rate of under 150 or 140b/pm you burn fats a lot faster than if you exceed that. So get a heart rate monitor. If you need help with anything feel free to PM me, e-mail me or message me :)
The way your body uses the food you eat is as follows:
Carbohydrates are processed into the form of glucose which is the body's first source of energy. Once the carbohydrates are used up, then the body starts burning fat for energy. So therefore eat some carbohydrates, but cut down on them so that your body can move onto burning fat faster. And after all, the fat-burning process is dependent on carbohydrates.
To lose weight, simply eat a smaller amount of calories to that which you are going to burn off, so a low calorie diet is the recommended one for you.
Good luck
EXTRA INFO: Do not starve yourself! If you do, your body will go into 'survival mode' and will store the little food you eat as fat for later usage, in fact increasing your body's fat as opposed to reducing it. So do not starve yourself!!! Simply cut down!
Oh and as for you occasionally eating a bit of junk food - don't worry... It is ok to eat junk food in moderation :) just do not eat too much
