 heh, I'll try.

If u want it to be ur slave, then check the IDE cable that ur current HD is running off of. It should be using the end of that cable instead of the middle part. Before u connect the IDE cable to the slave, check the jumpers on the HD to make sure it's set on either slave or cable select (if u use the middle IDE port instead of the outer one, then the cable select setting should be correct) Ok, so now if the middle part is free, plug in the middle part of the IDE into ur slave. Connect a peripheral power source into the HD. Lastly, make sure the HD is mounted securely in the computer case. Now ur ready to boot up to the BIOS and set that HD to be the slave, if not already recognized. After u install the slave, u should go into windows and format it in NFTS or FAT32 (whichever best suit ur case - but NTFS is the best for most)

Then that'll do it.

*If u have any complications, such as ur using the middle port on the IDE cable for ur master and ur outer port for ur CD/DVD drive, or if u have more questions, then please ask and post more about the hard drive, case, psu, motherboard, and/or IDE/raid controllers (as needed)

u can also PM me if u want

Well it's pretty self exclamitory. It says "SLAVE" right near the power input on the hard drive :P And after that you just go ahead. Well, that's what mine did.

yeah, but it's usually set on either Master or Cable-Select by default (pending on brand) so if it's on master and another drive is on master on the same IDE cable, then it will take the first signal that it receives and boot from that one. If no OS is found, then it cant boot.

but ummm... yeah, it basically speaks for itself except for the jumper settings.

...speaking of jumpers, I cant believe my motherboard doesnt have a J11  that should be a crime...
