My friend, men have been trying to figure out females since the dawn of time and I doubt it will ever happen lol.

No body really understands them my friend! Girls are as unique as guys or anything. The way they look, smell, act, what they are attracted to, everybody's different.
Not to be sarcastic, but they put their pants on like us gentlemen-at least I think. When it comes to talking to them, talk to them like you would a person, NOT like your best guy friend. Dating is a game of wits, you have to use your head. Your hormones can and will blind your understanding.
For me, I like to go into stuff with some kind of plan, maybe not a large, practiced one, but something to go off of. As a result, I have and do think a great deal about what I say when approaching a girl. The planning gives me confidence which translates to what I say and ultimately the way I project myself. (This part can be applied to life too) Really, I do not use any pickup lines or cookie-cutter phrases, I just talk and listen to them. I do not say the samething to each one either because I like to find something to say about the moment that is unique (weather, time, situation, what she's wearing, appropriateness, etc). Look at it this way, that attractive girl has heard that stupidly catchy pickup line from at least one other guy, why would she want to hear it again?
Back to understanding girls, sorry about the tangent. Honestly, I credit most of my understanding of girls (if I even really have any) to being around my mom and sister more than my father. I've learned a great deal of what to say and what not to say from talking to them. As I have grown up, I have gained "experience" and have used that on girls not in my family. If you do not have any female family members, I would recommend that you make friends with a girl. I took the liberty of bolding "make friends" because that is your goal. If you two end of dating, excellent, but that is not your goal.
You're probably doing this  but I do really hope I helped you in some way. Good luck :)

Um well every girl is different so you have to approach each one very differently. It also depends on here mood at the time sometime we don't even understand each other . I think the mind of girls can be complacated since everyone is different and feel different things and have different mind sets. So just find someone easy to talk to if you want then learn from them
