What happens if someone does get asked? If the police do get notified, what would they do? (I was really just wondering btw, and yes, I really was just wondering lol)

Get banned. Maybe an IP ban. Law enforcement agencies are not notified but of course information is available to be provided on the demand of said law enforcement, as child pornography and distribution is illegal.

What's an ip ban? So would the police just think "oh it's fine, they're just two teens curious? (I'm kinda worried about a friend, who isn't on vt, but someone who was being stupid)

An IP ban is where your router's unique address (IP address) to connect to the Internet is banned. It can change but most people have static IPs and don't know how to change them so it's quite effective. And police might think that, but it's against the law regardless. If it turns out a member is overage too they might be more interested but who knows, it's speculation.

Well, an IP ban means (I think) banning the user's IP address instead of just the account.

As for whether the cops would think that, it only applies in California and a couple other states. You should do some research outside of VT to find out the laws in your state regarding sharing of nudes between teenagers.

You definitely should do some of your own research too, but it's a pretty safe assumption to make that sending/recieving any nude images of people under the age of 21/18/16, whatever the legal age is where you are, will be classed as child porn and you may be punished accordingly. Assuming of course that they bother to look into it.

So when you say that they bother to look into it, does that mean that the authorities won't make it a high priority? My friend made a stupid mistake so I'm a bit worried about it, because he was using my Internet connection. What if you delete everything of that nature? Would someone then get into trouble? Cause its not owning child porn. Most importantly, is he in any danger, he's worried his mistake on kik is gonna send the police pounding on the door (some stranger gave him a lecture about how it's illegal, so then he's freaking out)?

Yeah I'm sure it was your friend

This is not the place to get legal advice. Such a topic is not a suitable discussion for VT.

Lol it really was, I'm not the person to say my "friend". It wasn't my "friend", but it was my friend.

But should he be worried the authorities will be pounding on his front door?

Honestly, I've got no idea what or if anything would even happen. But how often do you hear on the news about some random teenager being arrested for sending nude pics? Very, very, very rarely. Whether it was you or your 'friend' I wouldn't worry too much about it, just avoid it at all costs in the future.

Kik is a breeding ground for paedophiles anyway, used in conjunction with Omegle you're basically screaming that you're either a paedophile yourself or under the age of 18.

Also remember that the laws are where the server is located, so it doesn't really matter where you are, you have to follow the law from the country the server is located, which in this case, it's U.S.A.

The laws are according to the place where the server is located, which I believe is the midwestern USA somewhere. The law in the USA forbids sexual exploitation of minors under the age of 18. Any of said activity that we know of using the servers here must be reported. If the offending person resides in the USA, then they will be dealt with according to USA procedures. If they are from another country, the FBI will contact the appropriate authourities in that nation.

You can get heavy consequences for doing that. You will get banned here, but you could end up in jail for a long time if your case is pursued.

You must follow laws for not only the location of the server, but also where you are residing. So if the restriction for age in pornography is 18 in one and 21 in the other, you have to go with 21

To answer my words, it's highly unlikely that the person will get thrown in jail for that as a teen. Does that mean that if the case is pursued the person will be let free? No.
The admins (at least on other forums I was a member of) on forums similar to VT will only really report/hand over the information if it's a case of:

Pedophilia (i.e a 20 year old member cammed with a 14),
The authorities request information from the forum
The case causing danger to others

That isn't to say that just because it isn't reported, it's not illegal. It is 100% illegal to trade pictures in the united states, regardless of city or state.

And yes, banning will happen if they are a member on the forum. :)
