I know someone who I would consider my friend, but I don't know if he feels the same way about me. I would like to ask him if he wants to hang out but he is 2 years older then me. I don't want to ask him and be all awkward and completely humiliate myself or if he says no and I feel embarrassed. Also I am very socially awkward so I even have trouble talking to my best friends, Unless it is in person.(so for example I hate texting people) I don't know why but I hate it. what should I do? Any tips for asking someone to hang out?

Well first of all you could try reading this guide on How to make friends. (http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/showthread.php?t=25633) it might help.
However, you really need to just put yourself out their and ask him if he ever wants to hang out. I have found when asking slightly older people to hang out to be difficult as they are older and have more, "Same age friends". However, you still need to just need to pluck up the courage and ask the person if they want to hang out, maybe mention a movie or video games. Try to find common interests, it can be embarrassing but that's life.

Well you won't know anything, unless you try! Main reason why some people are friends who would be good friends today, is because they are too scared to ask each other if they wanna hang out, and see if they actually wanted to be their friends. Plus if you go up and talk to him, it will help you reduce the social awkardness from you. The more you hang out with people, and actually talk, the less problem you will have socially. So just go for it! And who knows, you guys might be really good friends!
