anyone out there who belongs to a religion but reads texts and teachings of other faiths as well? i think this is a good practice. reading outside of your faith can even support and strengthen your faith. at the moment i dont belong to a single faith, im interfaith spiritual, but ive belonged to many religions throughout my upbringing, and ive always tried to remain open to those things, and looked into others. it can best be seen among the dharmic faiths who often are copracticed among many peoples. but otherwise still, a good example can be made of christianity and hinduism. i think studying of the hindu and yogic scriptures can be very supportive of christianity, and vice versa. and honest study would show that they dont really overlap one another. because of this there has been alot of hindu becoming hindu christian, as well as an increasing number of christians becoming christian hindu.

Im a Marxist Christian, and I always read the Ou'ran and the Kitab-i-Aqdas (I was even formerly Baha'i). And I still read the Bible and Manifesto. There is just so much to learn from them.

I've been dozens of the world's faiths, so I've read and studied the Talmud and Tanakh, the Qur'An, the Avesta, the Principa Discordia, many sutras of Buddhism, the Bhavagad Gita, etc. Not to mention the fact that I'm working on a theology degree. :P
