i used to drink a lot, and by a lot i mean a lot. i used to drink like 4xxL monsters a day. i would have drawers at home filled with empty cans. i would even go to school hyped up on them and i would shake and it looked as most my friends described it like i was having drug withdrawls and everyone would ask me if i was on drugs, and people would walk by and call me stoner and it made me really upset so i went into a emo state minus the cutting and everyone prosecuted me of being a cutter, so i finally quit and its been almost a year since i've had an energy drink, and i still seem to have cravings for them but people acuse me of cutting, and using drugs under false pretenses, how do i get them to stop teasing me about things like this? cause i've told them over and over but they still never seem to beleive me about it... it just gets to me so easily and i dont know why...

Well, here's that reply. I don't like challenging a Mod, but...

I could say from personal experience that nicotine is more addictive than caffeine, but I'll cite a source instead.

Nicotine is consistently listed above caffeine.

Good progress after a year, and I know it's not easy being made fun of for stuff like that. Caffeine is a drug, and yes it can be addicting like any other drug. I do like energy drinks, but i'm not addicted to them. I have known people who will drink 4-5 monsters a day, or 10 cups of coffee like you used to do. If they have too much, they could go into a diabetic coma which is the equivalent to an overdose.

Yea, caffiene can be addictive. God knows how awful I get when I don't get my coffee every morning.

I agree with every one, but its not only the caffiene, its also the taurine, its very bad for you if you consume to much. Its what give you that extra little boost. Thats why you get tired if you drink a few a day... So in conclusion, monsters in general are full of drugs and poison...

This reminds me of an addiction I had to tuna sandwiches. It was probably the mercury in them that I loved...

Anyways, you shouldn't really care if they're too stupid to believe that you've resolved your addiction to them. Personally, I had three cups of coffee during my first period and I was buzzed for the next few hours, shaking and etOOf. People were all like, "Are you on drugs?"

Oh wow, this thread is soooo appropriate for me. It wasn't until last night that I realised how detrimental a caffeine addiction could be (looonnnggg story..alright, not so long, but I don't feel like typing it out) even though I'd had several bad experiences before (binging on coke to 'dull' pain)...I'm trying to come off of it, but it's hard. :-/ I LOVE coca-cola...I'd drink it nonstop if I could, and I even collect their products - coin holders, bottle caps, etc. I still drink coca-cola products (mind you, this is my first caffeine-free day so I might not make it as I've tried quitting in the past and it never works. Ever.), but not with caffeine. I also drank energy drinks and Jolt, and when I found Jolt gum and Jolt mints, I was in seventh Heaven. ^^ I could take those to school and stay on my 'high' throughout the day. It was weird...it kept me up during the schoolday, but somehow calmed me down enough at night so I could sleep. :S I was told bipolar and coke don't mix...well, bipolar and caffeine in general...but do I ever listen until I've experienced it? Of course not. :P Still, I'm working on it...one day at a time.

caffine is weird in my system, in regular doses, like sodas and energy drinks, im good. i even drank a whole bottle of that pepsi max stuff with double the caffine, but nothing. no buzz. my mom thought i was addicted to caffine, but i got days and even weeks without any. the only time i had any kind of energy drink buzz was when i drank 3 amps and a monster in a day with little to eat and little movement. i think it was a taurine that did it. caffine actually helps me calm down and even go to sleep. i get tired when i drink lots and lots of caffinated beverages. but i only get jittery from energy drinks if i chug something big like a monster. also i have begun to slow sip the large amps, kinda like how your sposed to drink whiskey. its a little scary to me that i find that tasty...whopps i rambled...

the reason caffine, calms you down, and helps you go to bed, is because when you have ADD or ADHD, it has a reverse affect on you. same thing happens to my brother, he has to drink coffee and night, while i drink mine in the morning to stay awake.

It has a reverse effect, because caffeine reduces blood-flow in the brain, producing the same effect as pharmaceutical stimulants (Ritalin, Adderall).

Caffine is an addicting drug. There is only like 1 drug more addictive and I think its heroine as Waiting said. What I dont understnd though, is that an apple has more caffine(or something that gives you energy) than coffee. How is that possible, and why would people drink cofee, when an apple is better for you AND healthier.

actually apples dont have any caffeine. apples might do similar stuff because of the sugar amounts, but you might be confusing the cyanide in the seeds with caffeine

I don't have to ADHD and caffeine calms me down. I'm not too sure how factually correct that is. It could, however, be some strange anomaly. My math teacher said that when you're young caffeine does that to you, but as you get older it wires you.

Yes, caffeine is addictive, but there are more drugs than just heroin that are even more addictive. Cocaine, nicotine, methamphetamine, amphetamine, ketamine, and alcohol to name some off the top of my head.

Well energy drinks are PACKED with caffine, they may as well just shove a few litres of coffee down your throat... ANYWAY, Wating's right, you're addicted to the caffine, and boy do I know how it feels after drinking so much, i drank a can of Shark and i was shaking for hours afterwards, it feels good. umm.. try chewing gum or something... or drink a cup or two of coffee instead of a can of red bull or something.. okay.. um.. bye..

It's just willpower. Slowly cut it down until you don't have any at all. There's no miracle cure for any addiction.

This is actually extremely common. In your case though, you were way addicted. Caffeine replaces your natural energy to keep you energized, and so your body stops making those energies to keep you energized. This explains what people call crashing after drinking a lot of caffeine. This is a serious problem in a lot of teens. I had a smaller case of this addiction and I would crash after drinks. But I became very ill and my doctor wouldn't let me have cafeine anymore. (which is fantastic) but besides the point, if you need to, drink some soda or something on occasion to satisfy that craving. Just stay away from those red bulls ;)
