I cut the other day and afterwards I sprayed hairspray on it. Is this a bad thing? It seems like it would be a good thing because the alcohol cleans it and the hairspray seals it so no bad germs can get in. It also makes it puff up and it doesn't scab as much and its gone faster. So is this a good or bad thing? I've been doing it for years and I never got an infection but everyone is telling me not to.

I wouldnt say its a good thing cause of the other chemicals in it... get rubbin alcohol instead its safer.

This. If it 'puffs up' this is a sign of inflamation, which is bad, and heeds the healing of wounds. Try rubbing alcohol, It hurts just as much and isn't harmful to most wounds. However, If they're deep, or almost healed, I don't suggest it. Likewise, You can easily head to Wal-Mart or any store and buy a liquid bandage, it's made to block germs, instead of hairspray. hairespray is not for cuts or ingerys
small cut - use H2O2 or alcohol 80% minimal 90% perferd then place a bandaid on it.
other option liquid bandage contanse depending on brand alcohol, iodine, and/or H2O2 to steralise the cut then it hardens to form a protected layer.
deep cut - go to DR. / ER.

An infection that you know of. Sure you would probably notice if you did have an infection but you may also not. Either way just because you haven't got an infection yet doesn't mean you won't. You shouldn't continue something which is putting you at more risk if it can be prevented. Ideally stop cutting, but perhaps more practical advice would be to invest in antiseptic wipes spray whatever and put that on when you cut. Stop 'sealing'the wound with hairspray, put light gauze bandages on or something in the day and leave it open to air in the night, if its rather deep or gaping buy some steri strips to keep it closed. And of course if you're ever concerned about an injury go to A and E.
