Mac users, today, July 25th, 2012, is the release date for 10.8. I'm just curious as to what you think of it; Is it good? Is it a slump? Are you going to spend $20 on the upgrade?
I think, for the most part it's okay. I like the integration of iMessage and notifications into the OS. However, I really think that it isn't really going to hit well with desktops, like the iMac or Mac Pro.
If I buy it, however, I'll give you my review. :)

Doesn't have enough new features for me to pay the $19.99 I don't think

Seems like a lot of useless features.
The Gatekeeper software seems like a basic antivirus for apps, but I'm sure that apps are already checked and verified by Apple before even going on release. Also, they claimed that iOS is virus free. Contradictory much.
A lot of the features aren't really with the OS, more like an improvement to the browser, such as Facebook integration (why?!), and the built-in sharing button, which I must say has been existent in so many browsers before.
The notification center is a bit useless too; I was sure that the status bar icons already show notifications. And Growl performs notification well too.
Apart from that, I'm glad for mac users that now they have implemented the Game Center and iMessage sotware (at last).

Wait, didn't they just release Lion like a year ago? Good going, Apple.

The one thing I'm upset about that is, my MacBook Pro isn't the newest of the new, so it can't do Airplay, which is a bummer.
But honestly, I'm pretty excited for the upgrade. Will I be buying it right now? No.

I would never get an update after it was just released. I waited after Lion in order for 10.7.2 to come out because by then all the bugs were fixed. And, honestly, I'm happy with my MacBook as it is right now. I don't feel I have a reason to spend money on a new OS. If my mother gets it, I know I will but it's really up to her. She works with computers for a living so I mostly just leave it up to her.
I've found I've been having to troubleshoot 10.7.4 anyway so I'm not in a rush for another upgrade until I've fixed this one.

You raise a good point. I waited until 10.7.3, and I was still having some bugs. I'll just save the money on a game I wanted instead, so I guess that review is going on hold. :P

I'm currently downloading it. I'm going to do a fresh install over Lion though, just to see if there are improvements. I'll post back here when I have it installed, and ready to go.

I'm awaiting my free upgrade code  Called Apple, the guy told my my request was approved and it would take up to 72 hours to email my code, my level of patience is extremely low!

I got it, I just couldn't wait lol. I actually expected it to be a lot worse, but it's actually surprisingly nicely done! The new dock, menu bar, and updated icons are refreshing too.
And Dimitri, I'm loooooooving the Dictation. :P in fact, I'm writing this sentence right now using the dictation tool.

I don't think I'm going to get it. At least not for awhile due to software that may not be compatible with 10.8 just yet. My mum has software that even though the OS itself is only $20, the software update is $200. So both of us are going to wait for sure.
Anyway, I'm in no rush. I've been happy with my laptop since I got it and 10.7 came out. Hell, before I had 10.7, I was running 10.3 on my old eMac. Compared to that, this is upgrade enough.

Just saying, there was only one program I had a problem with, which was VMware. All my other programs that worked with 10.7 worked with 10.8.

I have not upgraded yet on my Mac Pro because I do a lot of important work on it and i was not sure how stable it was but my mum got the new Retina MacBook Pro on sunday and it came with a free upgrade with it and I installed it and so far I am but and the same time not impressed because it is a bit buggy and laggy but that is like any brand new OS 10.8.0, once they update it a bit i'm sure it will be a lot better but for the time being i will not upgrade for the moment, this was the same when 10.7 came out it was laggy and buggy but now it runs like a dream. I love the new Safari 6 which is super fast and looks great with the Retina Display, also brings features that chrome has had for ages, saying that i am staring to use safari as my main browser again, but it is very hard to leave chrome.
