I was thinking, would it be possible to put word filters on simple words that some idiots don't know how to spell? For example, turn 'wut' into 'what' or perhaps 'u' into 'you'. There are a lot of very stupid people on here (Not naming any names) that make reading threads very hard, and I think this would help people. Thoughts?

No, I don't think we should allow them to type whatever they want and then the forum will change it for them. My solution: if you constantly use "wut" and "y" and "r" and "plz" and "pr0n", I won't reply to your thread. And in Puberty101, that's saying a lot :P

No, because then they will not learn. If the post is REALLY difficult to read, NICELY post and ask them to make it more readable.

I agree with this

No, members come here to ask questions and talk openly. They have nowhere else where they can go and feel safe enough to ask or express themselves like they do here.
I don't think we need to add a censor
Its not hard to read i mean honestly if you can't tell that "u" means you
then.....ya, maybe there not the idiots

Everyone starts off the privilege of posting whatever they think, as long as it abides by the rules. While correct grammar and spelling is extremely recommended, I do not think it will ever be a rule. Thus, there's no reason to change the material that people post.

As an unemployed journalist I must say that proper grammar, style, and spelling are very important. It nearly kills me to see "your" instead of "you're", "there" instead of "they're", and so on. Honestly, a panda doesn't "eat, shoots, and leaves". Sentences can lose meaning or, such as in my example, mean the difference between life and death depending on what punctuation or tenses it contains.
I don't think a rule is necessary, but I do think that unreadable posts should be deleted or edited. =[

I agree that we don't need to add a censor, but I don't think he just means in general, but more of posts that are harder to read
Something easy to read is:
u know, i find it hard to beleve that ur sayin things like that.
or
hey, i got a problem, when i cum, its all clear and messy, so could u plz tell me what this is???
As opposed to hard to read things, such as
im 14 & jus askin 2 ?
1st ?: that my quads r burnin soo hard and i duno wat to do i men how do i fix this i onli did 25 reps y dos this ceep hapenin????
? 2: wat dos stages men i men evry tim i read i see stages & jus 1drin if dis is wat i think it mens i think it's like growth
Help pl0x I rly need to know BAD :mad:
A censor would include more things like "u", and would spell check things like wut, u, r, y, dos, i, wat, plz, pl0x, pr0n, etc. Although I'm still not behind the idea, since I think people should learn, and I think the first few posters should be nice and translate it for everybody else :P

How about instead of bitching about not being able to read their shitty grammar you simply don't help the person with their problem if they're too stupid to even ask the question properly? They're free to ask questions and likely to get answers, and we're also free to not give answers if we don't know what the damn question is.

Thats what I usually do, if they can't be bothered to ask the question properly then I can't be bothered to try and read and answer it!

Lol I'm too soft-hearted. I'll generally do my best to decipher it, and if it's really bad or I flat-out can't figure out what they're trying to say, I'll give them an oh-so-subtle hint :P
what the?

LMAO precisely, it's so stupid. Who cares if someone else can't spell?!

when i had a forum( couple years ago) you could change "curse" words into other words, like say someone typed fuck it would be poo ( i never used this fearture of course) but you could do the same thing.....instead of actual curse words use wut...and such...just throwing it out there.

It's not necessary.
Anyway, the answer is no and this is a bumped thread, so thread closed.
