I hate to post this, but I'm becoming desperate. I cut last night, and it was very, very violent, and deep, with more blood than I care to mention. The entire time I was whispering insults to myself and digging deeper than I ever have. Once I ran out of room in my 'cut zone' or what I can cover with five or six band-aids, I cut from top to bottom, so my wrist looks like an odd checker board. I woke up this morning, and where I had wrapped toilet tissue around my wrist for the night (Held by a long sleeve night shirt and two hair ties) my cuts had re-opened and bled through. I changed the toilt tissue as I'm down to my last large band-aide (about two inches by three inches) and I didn't want to waste it sleeping. I have that band-aide on now, but they're still bleeding, even though t's been almost twenty four hours sense they where cut. Is this normal? And how can I stop the bleeding?

If they are still constantly bleeding now, then you need to see a medical professional, immediately, most likely, the ER. It is possible you could have damaged an artery, or a vein. Especially if there is swelling, bruising, or if you notice a whitish color around the cuts. If it went too deep, you could have damaged the tissue severely, which would need to be handled as soon as you can. It may just need stitches, but it is possible it could have been more severe, depending on how deep.
We aren't there, nor are we medical professionals, so we can't really do much more than tell you what might be wrong. The important thing is that you need to see someone.

You won't be able to stop them bleeding if they haven't stopped in 24 hours. you will probably need stitches or some kind of surgical glue. and no you can't just use superglue before you ask. What time is it where you are? If its still early enough in the day you might be able to get seen by your own doctor?? otherwise you need to go to hospital kind of urgently, like in the next 5 minutes. Don't worry, it will be ok. honestly.

Firstly if you haven't, clean the wounds as best you can. If you have any bandages wrap them around tightly so as to apply pressure and reduce the bleeding. I would also suggest if the beleeding persists possibly think about seeking medical attention. That's all I can think of right now.

They've been cleaned and banaged, and I think the bleeding has stopped. I've very, very reluctant to seek medical attention as I've been locked away in a straight jacket for shallow cuts on my hips, and I can't imagine what they'd do to me for this. I'm honestly terrified to seek help, and I'm trying to contact multiple different friends to get their input. I don't know, I don't want to be hospitalized for mental issuses for a relapse. ~Holli

sorry to hear that, that sucks. i was just going off my own experience where they just fixed me up then let me go. its really bad that you can't get help because of people don't understand self harm. i hope you are ok.
