I was just looking down the forum page when i saw the box which tells you who is online, whilst looking i noticed that there were 759 people online of whom only 128 are members so..
I was thinking back to when i joined.
I originally found the website by searching something about puberty to see if i was normal and i found this site and the next day i joined but i was a bit freaked out that i had the option to answer so many boxes
I mean any of my friends could of found me by my name or skype name etc.
Fortunatly i did join in the end and love it here !!!! :D
So my suggestion is why isnt the sign up page just a quick two questions asking email and password then people have the freedom to put what they want on when they want to Or is this the case now ???
Also maybe a message to all guests from vt with messages from uses saying why we like it what forums we use the most and why ??
Thanks

They read the posts, and that makes them randy.

all im saying is some of those people would or may feel how i did not sure weither to join .. WE want them to join isnt that the poin of vt ? to recover learn and grow together
Just think of all those people who hurt themselves or emotionally suffer because they think they are weird or the people that could die or hurt themselves because they didnt post that question on vt cause they where to shy to join

if they want to join, they'll join. if not, we can't do anything about that.

The difference to the page you're suggesting and the one implemented is virtually indifferent. It may take an extra 20 seconds to fill this one out, and it is a lot more secure this way. Personally, I don't think this needs to be changed.

We are not a social network. We are not a personal-data-greedy corporation, either.
Our goal is not to have the entire world use VT, as that would defeat the purpose. Therefore, the registration can be longer, as that weeds out those who don't take it seriously. If we made the registration as simple as email-and-password only, then that would simplify the job for those who seek to misuse our forum, as well as have more people who don't care about others' problems and just want to "chat".
Think about it this way: if they have a problem they want help on, they will do what's within their bounds of reasonable. If we fit that criteria, then great, we're happy to have them. If not, then I'm afraid VT is not for everybody, and there are plenty of other places who could help them.
