Attempting to Quit Porn

I want to try and wuit looking at porn. I feel guilty very badly after I cum to it. It makes me feel like a pervert. and it is making me feel even more worse about if my family ever found out.

People and videos say that porn can't stay a secret forever. My school says its bad. My school made me sign a PAPER saying I wouldnt.

Do you think I can do it?
(HINT: this will probably be the 30th time I have told myself I need to stop)

Because HOW do I know that it will not continue into my future, and I end up a crazed porn fan of a dad? I DONT WANT TO BE A PERVERT DAD! Plus an article I read says that the stuff you see in porn will eventually channel into my everyday life. Meaning that because I am attracted to the guys in the porn, and i look at gay porn, will make me gay!

It sounds like you're being influenced alot by the things you're being told (like signing a promise in school not to look at porn, that it 'channels' into your everyday life, etc.). All of which sounds more like it's designed to fright you into avoiding porn rather than giving you the facts and letting you decide for yourself. It's no wonder that you feel guilty about looking at porn, and perhaps about your sexual desires, too!

For the record, looking at porn does not make you a 'pervert'. A pervert is someone who does something to someone else, usually without their permission, and when they are usually to young to understand the consequences of their actions and provide meaningful consent. Looking at porn when you masturbate involves just you, what you're viewing, and whatever your thoughts and fantasies are.

The real problem with porn is that younger teens don't have the experience to always know what's real and what's entertainment in the porn, and therefore are susceptible to believing that what they're seeing is actually what they should expect, not only in terms of how sex is done (and the sizes!), but also how people relate to eachother sexually. There's no evidence that looking at porn 'makes' you anything that you're either not already, or have the history that will make you that way with time anyway. You cannot become 'gay', 'perverted', or 'immoral'. All that stuff is too complex to be 'caused' by what you look at while masturbating. Think of it this way, if you watch South Park alot, you're unlikely to turn into a cartoon character, too!

That said, I'm not advocating you throw all caution to the wind and start viewing porn. What i am saying is that the reasons to not view porn have nothing to do with what it will 'turn' you into. Just how it might influence your expectations.

If you want to 'quit', maybe little self control would work. Just because you want to do something doesn't mean you have to!

I would highly suggest you stop lookign at porn. I know that after I stopped (which took me forever to actually quit) I felt so much better, and got a lot more self-esteem. And its hard to quit at first but each day u go w/o it the easier it becomes to go w/o it.
As for getting caught, you will. I got caught and I lost a lot of my parents trust and it took until now to regain it. (They caught me about 2 years ago.) I still went back to it and about 2 months ago my computer got a virus. I was able to get it fixed but it scared the crap out of me. That was the last time I ever looked at it and I no longer want to look at it.
And yeah, porn can make you perverted and that was a big reason why I quit. I saw what I was becoming and I didnt want to be like that. I looked at gay porn and did start to feel gay and be attracted to men. I ddint want to be that. (And by the way, there's nothing wrong with being curious. Almost every guy is. Pretty much anything sexual can turn on a guy. I'm not supporting being gay or anything cuz I actually feel its not right but every guy does get curious.)

Well, mainly it's all in choice. I can say that many men look at porn and it becomes an addiction, it's been proven, and has also been proven to ruin relationships. So, with that being said, there's a limit to watching porn, just like a limit to masturbating, as long as it dosen't interfere with your life, than, STATISTICALLY there's no problem, however, it may be illegal depending on your age.

I think allot of teenage boys watch porn and they all turn out fine.. However you do allways here of "horror stories" when people get addicted which is pretty sad :( it is also illegal if your under 18 i dont know if that bothers you?

Listen, if you want to stop porn, you would simply not look at it. Simple as that.
As to your situation as a whole, it seems to me people have pounded into your head porn is some kind of deadly sin that will kill you in your sleep :/
Regardless on your views of porn, if you wanted to stop, you would have; there's no "But it's like I do it sub-consciously" or anything.

Even if it is some "sub-drive" that tells you to watch it, you still maintain controls on where you click your mouse and grab your balls (to put it in simpler terms).

Umm, nothing will make you gay :| That's highly controversial and it hasn't been agreed upon that something makes you gay. The whole gay community doesn't go around saying "ooh I watched gay porn so it made me gay but I still celebrate my pride!"

Now let me tell you something man, they don't mean that by watching gay porn, it'll make you gay. I'm gay. Now if that article means what you think it does, that means that if I watch straight porn, I'll turn straight (which, actually I have, and straight porn is nasty :P)

What they mean by "it'll channel into your life" is that you'll have porn on your mind a lot (when I watched a lot of porn, sometimes when I read an advertisement that said "we have pencils coming out our ears!" I'll accidently read it as "we have penises going up our asses!" :P
Another thing that watching a lot of porn does is it influences you. For example, if they cuss a lot in the porn, you might start to cuss a lot, almost for no reason at all.

The reason you're probably watching gay porn is because you're curious about guys. You could also be bi - who knows!

So as far as quitting porn, just try to get your mind off of it. If you watch a lot of porn (like all day), then that could be a problem, since you're spending the entire day watching porn!! Get a life!! :P

Instead, spend your day doing something else! Go to the gym, play basketball, lift weights, join Karate, play chess, play videogames, go shopping, run around the block, pick up some milk at the store. There's so many things that you can do instead of being on the computer that it's rediculous. And it's so much fun getting outside and exercising, it's not even funny! I think it's better than porn :P

i've researched this subject alot and form what i've heard all guys are interested (whether they admit it or not) in seeing other guys naked. because they want to know that they are the same as everybody else. we may also look at gya porn to lear about how gays go about sexual activity and be more intersted in men's bodies becaues we use them as an example for how we would like 2 look ourselves

in my opinion viewing porn should be a private thing you do without others knowledge. although i personally don't look at porn, and thats my personal choice, you shouldn't be influenced by others. trying to avoid porn will take a lot of will power and i wish you all the best, because its going to be tough. good luck!

jimmie i know what you mean, i enjoy porn, but there are times when i will watch something and say to myself i am a terrible human being. the best thing i can tell you to do is what i do, figure out what makes you feel bad and stop, just stop only view watch or read what keeps your from feeling bad. porn isnt for everyone, and not all porn should be viewed. if you need help i think i know exactly where you are standing man, and its hard. its really hard, good luck

I think you can do it, if you try hard enough. And about turning gay, I think it's a load of BULLSHARK! You would know if your gay, and you cant just turn gay. I think you still can masturbate to porn, but when it gets addicitve and it interferes with your life, then you should stop. And I dont think you'll be a "pervert dad" By the time youre ready to have kids, you should be able to quit porn. Wherever you heard this information, it doesnt sound too accurate.
