I have no doubt that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe, and yes, it is possible that they have developed technology allowing them to come into contact and, in some cases, interact with us. But I'm not going to generalize every strange moving light in the sky that I don't happen to know of an origin for is an alien spacecraft.

I mean it's definitely possible. I don't really disbelieve that there is other intelligent life out there. There is just so much that we don't understand and so little that we actually do understand; about life but more specifically about the universe.

Intelligent life is an interesting thought. There aren't other species that live quite like we do, so it's hard to grasp the idea that there could be species and life forms that are in fact more intelligent and live much more industrially and technologically advanced that we do. We just don't know.

I think that there could certainly be intelligent life out there, and it's definitely been hyped up by media (books, movies, comics, video games, etc...), but I don't think it's a big stretch. We just aren't technologically advanced enough to travel such great distances - especially not exactly knowing what to look for, expect or knowing where to go. I don't know if it will happen in our life time, the next, the one after that or at all for that matter; but I'm not denying the fact that it is very possible.

I'm sure that aliens can very well exist. The universe is just too big to hold one intelligent species. Unless, however, Monkeys and Dolphins fall into some nuclear waste and rapidly evolve.

I certainly think Aliens do exist. The Universe is so big after all, if we were able to exist what makes youu think theres no other life form out there.
The only thing I don't believe is aliens coming to Earth. Sure they maybe more advanced but as stated earlier the Universe is sooooooooooooooooo big. The distance is just so huge.

Well duhhh Aliens exist! What do you think Dubstep is? Its just Alien Messages that music producers got ahold of, ahaha! jk jk...... Ok, Lets be serious now, lol I also do believe that their are aliens out there that are much more intelligent than us, and there is probably no telling what the some people on Earth know about aliens. We could have all kinds of aliens on the Earth right now. The real life "Men in Black" probably has them stored in Area 51 somewhere. There is sooooo much stuff the public doesnt know about aliens, that the real life Men in Black probably knows.

Your post reminds me of the aliens in the movies zapping people from the spaceships.

No I don't believe in aliens. I do believe in outer space life, but nothing of much intelligence like aliens would be. It's like that stupid show finding big foot, "oh I just saw a big foot!" when in reality it's a golden retriever :P

It has been estimated are over 100 billion stars in our galaxy. If we assume there is just one planet for each star, that makes 100 billion planets. In practice there are many more than this, more like 200-400 billion stars and many more planets, but let's just assume. Scientists have also estimated there are around 10 billion Earth-like stars in our galaxy.

How many galaxies are there (http://www.universetoday.com/30305/how-many-galaxies-in-the-universe/)? Current estimates are 100 to 200 billion, and up to 500 billion.

Now.... if we said that all galaxies had 10 billion Earth-like planets, taking lead from our own. And this may well be a conservative estimate... and let's take the lower estimate of only 100 billion galaxies in the universe.

10 billion * 100 billion =

10,000,000,000 * 100,000,000,000 = 1.0*10^21

one sextillion (21 zeros) number of planets. To put that into perspective, let's say you had one sextillion dollars. And Apple Inc. is net worth $406billion (it is).

1.0*10^21 / 406,000,000,000 = 2.46305419 × 10^9

You could buy the most profitable company in the world 2,463,054,190 times. 2.4 billion is still about a third of the worlds population, you'd have to buy it each time for a third of the world's population.

Basically, a sextillion is a shit ton. Now, as humans, are we really arrogant enough to think that there wouldn't be intelligent life on any other of those planets? Really?

I think there are Aliens somewhere because it would be very weird if the whole galaxy and billions of stars we made up just for us. And in so many planets, only Earth can be the perfect one to live...

Earth is most likely not the only place that can hold life.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_potential_habitable_exoplanets

Yep. 32 planets out of the what-ever trillion we found are just possibilities of being habitable. That shows you that even though the Universe is big, we are a universe that is practically dead.

I know what your saying. there has to be other life other than us. I'm not saying that we should drop everything and go looking. (if thats possible.)

ok there has to be something out there. its confuzing but it was talking to my friend the other day about this and we were wondering if they could see us through some sort of technology and if they could they would be seeing the earth like a million years ago. light and sound dont travel fast enough for our technology and if they could see us, it would be as long ago to how many light-years as they are away its amazing but very confusing but if you think about it it really makes sense. You know that some research facilities are hearing things coming from space. those sounds could be from years ago and we wouldnt even know it. like fireworks. you hear the sound a while after you see it because they travel at different speeds. Its so crazy but it really does make sense

I remember reading a caption somewhere that said "If we travel thousands of lightyears across the universe and find a planet with inteligent life, let's just make patterns in their feilds and leave."

A little random in this position on the page, but fitting in with this thread.

I definitely think there might be intelligent life out there. I just don't understand why they'd ever come here. That'd be like driving 1,000 miles to go to chick-fil-a. Kind of worth it, but not really.

no advanced civilisation will ever contact us, even the most advanced are stopped by the maximum speed of light meaning they'll still have to wait thousands of years to talk to a tiny primitive civilisation on a rock

The Universe is full of surprises, and it is very vast. If we were the only civilized, sentient beings here, why all of the space?

ah yes, aliens. I do believe in them and there are severe cases where people go mentally insane thinking that aliens have abducted them.

(Warning do not watch video if easily disturbed or frightened)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUki-07sp2E

an alien implant was inserted into his ankle and in 1991 the foreign object was removed from his leg then anylised, the scientists concluded that the object "has remarkable composition and that the object exhibited unique surface characteristics that cannot be explained." and that "The questions outnumber the answers." his many abductions since 1957, have become more, and more horrific.

they paralysed him, took a sperm extraction, then forced him to cross breed with what seemed to be a female.
in one abduction he was presented with a baby, and was shown his 9 other alien kids. he looked him in the eyes and the message he got from them was "We're okay, Thank you."

@condor, well the universe has been around for a VERY long time so it is still possible that they could be visting and watching us, there are even ancient legends about great wars between us and aliens, we are just starting to discover real proof that aliens exist, I wouldn't be too surprised if we catch non-edited footage of a real UFO in the distant future.

there are also reports of aliens abducting humans to create human hybrids, however these hybrid children cannot leave the ship or they die.

i certianly believe there is life outside of earth, but i dont necessarily believe theyve had any contact with us whatsoever
