Has you ever read The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls? What did you think of it? Did you enjoy it? What did you think of Jeannette's father?
I read this book several years ago as it was required reading for my whole school. I never thought I'd get into it before I read it, but once I started to read it, I was hooked. I was so compelled that this was actually a real story and that all these events actually happened. It opened me up to a way of life that this family had. The parents had a very unconventional way that they raised their kids.
So, I'd have to say that I enjoyed it a lot and I'd rate it as one of my favorite books. Despite all the hard times that were depicted in this book, I still think it was amazing at all the adventures that they had. They lived all throughout the Western US and had many memories there; then they moved near the East coast in West Virginia and lived the rest of their adolescent lives there. Despite Jeannette's father being a heavy drinker and putting the family through all kinds of dangers, I still think he was a brilliant man. He taught the kids values, knowledge, and wisdom. Clearly, he did something right because (most) all of his kids are now successful adults that have steady jobs.
