last night i burnt my thumb pretty severly. was a second degree burn across most of my thumb and some of my palm and the web between my thumb and index finger. i treated it by running cool water over it for what seemed like an hour. when ever i took it out of the water it would begin to burn incredibly bad. so i desided to submerge it in ice water. same result. so to deal with the pain i took some ibuprofen. no effect, so i took twice the recomended dose of ibuprofem, no help. by this time it was 2am and i needed to get to sleep but i couldnt sleep trough the excruciating pain. so i ran around lookin for stuff to help me sleep through the pain. so i ended up doing like 3 doese of cough surup and a dose of nyquyll on top of my double dose of ibuprofen. finaly fell asleep around 4am. kinda lousy that i didnt have any legit pain killers around the house. my parents wernt thinking when they through out all the vikondin, i coulda really used some instead of having to do a buncha random crap. :P

Just take some Tylenol. That's pretty much all your gonna get from Vicodin. You can keep taking ibuprofen up to about 800 mg up to 1200mg a day safely. If you must take a shot, drink a beer, have a glass of wine DO NOT COMBINE THIS WITH ANY COUGH SYRUP. You will fuck your brain up.

Take an Advil and put some ice on it

Don't put ice on it, a stupid idea that causes more damage than just the burn itself. (And the burn isn't as bad as you might think, since the nerve endings are still alive hence the severe pain)

Also, go to the ER and tell them about the pain, since evidently NSAID (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory drugs like Acetominophen and Ibuprofen) aren't working for you. They'll probably give you a short prescription.

If the pain is really bad, the ER won't give you any higher order pain meds like Codeine, and you've got time to kill, I would simply recommend having a few shots of liquor as your last option. Alcohol deadens the feeling of pain. (You drank this much alcohol in the nyquil anyways last night)

lol, at the same time as what the people above me are saying, promethazine/dxm (whatever was in your cough syrup), mixed with alcohol will leave you fucked up if youre taking high doses like you said. if youre looking for a solution to the pain only then dont drink both. in my opinion you should see if a doctor will give you a short script for vicodin and even then dont take too many of those cuz they have a lot of tylenol in them (because i highly doubt they will give you anything more than 5/500s). if it's too much work to go to the doctor just rough it out broseph :)

You shouldn't take so much ibuprofen, its bad for you. Just like paracetamol in large quantities can damage your liver. But I'd go see a doctor, they could give you something stronger and possibly something topical to put on the actual burn.
