I drink a lot of caffeine products, and I would say I am dependent on it. When I try to stop, I have major withdrawal issues. But the one thing that bothers me is that I can't shake the headaches that come on after I've stopped drinking stuff for awhile. When I wake up I have a headache constantly until I drink like 4 coffees or whatever. It's even worse when my insomnia is in full swing. Is there anything I can do to help headaches that I receive from not drinking?

Yes, I have been to a doctor but they can't 'really' do anything because I can't take pain relievers because I have a stomach issue that makes pills irritate the stomach acid. If you have home remedies of any kind, please do share. Or, anything else that doesn't require medication.

Maybe try keeping yourself properly hydrated at all times, if you aren't already doing that. The caffeine products were probably the only liquids you were drinking.

This is why one gets a splitting headache after a night out because the alcohol dehydrates your body, and so water is sourced out of your brain lining. This results in those throbbing headaches.

Hope that makes sense. :whoops:

Well, you have to remember that caffeine is a drug. Thats right, A DRUG. Not as serious as Cocaine, Mary Jane or even most prescription pills, you can get addicted to caffeine. The best way to get rid of this is to try to just stop using caffeinated products and try to get some water into you. Sure, the headaches will suck, badly. But, it will be worth it when there gone.

I googled "Home Remedies for Headaches" and came up with a plethora of sites. One of them recommended several herbal remedies, the main two being Feverfew and Ginko. From what I have read about Feverfew, it could very well help, being an anti-inflammatory, but it is also a bit riskier than some other herbal remedies-namely, it has a few side effects, and an abrupt stop in taking it after you have taken it for an extended time can result in withdrawal symptoms. Many others were also suggested. I would certainly see what medicinal sites on the internet recommend for home remedies if I were you, and (as it seems you are trying to do) reduce your dependence on caffeine. I also agree with those above, keep yourself hydrated with water as much as possible.

I have this problem as well, and, though I am still heavily dependent on caffeine, I have a friend who also was and quit. She started eating an apple in the morning instead of drinking coffee and said that it kept her energized and is also way more healthy. After a few days she said her headaches went away, so I guess its just a matter of waiting it out. But you could always try substituting apples for coffee, and as everyone has been saying, drink lots of water!

As mentioned above, keep yourself hydrated. Many caffeinated beverages are diuretics meaning you pee out more liquid than what you take in (You are losing water). Being dehydrated is one of the reasons why many people get headaches without even realizing it. Remember the reason why you are decreasing your caffeine intake whenever you have the urge. The less you have, the healthier you'll be. Too much caffeine can cause arrhythmia in some people (an irregular heartbeat). I know from experience that caffeine triggered tachycardia episodes which made my heart suddenly beat really fast causing sometimes dizziness and nausea.
