View Full Version : Nightmares?

Sense my depression began, I've had nightmares worthy of horror movies. It got to the point where I'd go for days, as much as a week, without sleep because I was too scared to sleep. I was also told I have Insomnia, and although Nightmares and restless sleep are part of Insomnia, I think they're caused by my depression and not my Insomnia. Does anyone else have nightmares along with their depression?

Oh yes. I even had day-mares as well. But my anti-anxiety and depression prescription has helped a lot. Have you been properly treated and diagnosed?

This is a little crazy, I guess, but if you can teach yourself to lucid dream....then you can control what happens in your dreams and nightmares! It will take a few days to maybe a few months or anywhere in between! But people just like you learn to achieve lucidity and take control of their lives and not let their sub concious rule! If you are willing to give it a try then the only place you can go, is up. The easiest way to train yourself would be to start by making a dream journal, which would mean you would have to sleep! Is up to you, it's just a possibility. But remember that all positives come with negatives. Hope you feel better very soon, best of luck and lots of love!

You really need to find someone who you trust to talk with, i bet to say it will help you release :) or you can try to find something that you can work on it for a long haul, such as your interests, your favorite activities...etc. as for me, i like to keep a diary and it helps me out when i am really down, ill cry, but after that, i would feel much better . Cheer on you :)

I would have nightmares when I was really deep in depression, but, like Teejay said, my own depression medication has helped a lot--I rarely, if ever, get them anymore. I would certainly suggest talking to a doctor about that, especially if they are as bad as you say. Whether they be caused by insomnia or depression, I would talk to a doctor to see if there is anything they can do or prescribe to help.

I must say that depression wasn't that normal. I got also sleepless night which i considered as another Insomnia night to survive but not the case of yours. It was just that i have sleep in day time and my body clock had have its adjustment. Maybe you should see an expert pertaining with your condition.
