I don't know for certain, make sure you ask what the confidentiality policy is before saying anything else, that way at least you know where you stand before saying anything sensitive.
Unfortunately I have no experience using a guidance Councillor because my school provides support through other means.
By the way, I didn't see the other post, but since you seem genuine by stating why you made this post I think personally your ok.
Hope I've helped.

That's good advice, I second that and it's a good way to start things off as well.
Basically they ask you questions about how you're feeling, what's going on at school/home, if anything is bothering you. Just random things that might lead to you opening up, which ultimately is the point.
With my youth worker I can tell her anything up to the point of self harm and she won't tell my parents, I don't know about suicide but I haven't tested those waters yet and I don't really want to venture in. I think abuse is something that they don't keep to themselves also, if you or someone you know is getting abused then they are usually obliged to tell someone.
I'm pretty lucky since the person I see is young and makes a lot of jokes using her own experiences to contribute and lets me get another perspective. I know she's definitly on my side. They're basically their to gain your trust and just be someone you can confide in and so they can find out what the problem is and get things off your own shoulders.
