Do girls always go for "Jerks?"

Now, before I start, I am completely neutral on this. Im just questioning, not stating.

There, now we got that out of the way, lets get to the real story then.

I have wondered why a lot of girls seem to go out with, well...cocky neanderthals. I mean, some girls that I know that I'm friends with go out with pretty O.K guys, and we have a lot of fun. But, for the most part my experience has seemed to be drastically far more often than not.

Why does this happen? Well, I know for a fact that a lot of girls want a man who is confident of themselves (looks really do not play a HUGE factor, even though it is important). However, because of that, they get someone who is over-confident and thinks that there all that. And over-confidence is the key to unlocking douchebaggery in someone. This is just my guess.

However, the big question is, is this happening only to my experience, or to a lot others as well?

I honestly don't know! All my friends who are girls date pretty not so nice guys. And I live with 3 sisters, and yet I still don't know how they think, or why they do it! Probably because of the thrill in the relationship, and also them thinking "I'm dating a bad boy."

Honestly, I don't know and I'm a girl. She could be unware he's a jerk. But for some reason it could be control. He makes them feel safe because he's a jerk, like he's got this big power that maybe one day he'll use to keep them safe. He seems to know what he wants, when he wants it and they take that as him being confident and a go-getter and that he can provide for them. If he's the sleazy kind that calls them names like broad, trophy and just demeaning names, they'll probably have their heads too high up in the clouds and think it's his special pet name for them.

Girls are gonna have all kinds of different tastes in guys, would be my guess. I don't see a trend like you are though. There are some amount of jerks at my school, but honesty, both guys and girls think they're jerks, so they're kinda on their own and don't date or hook up.

Seems like most girls date/hook up with regular guys that either into sports or school or both and are normal guys. The people that I think our school would view as jerks are pretty much ignored. Not all of them, but almost.

As a guy, I think we're way less mature than girls anyway, so they know they gotta tolerate us being stupid a little bit of the time, but that's us being stupid, not douchebaggery as you put it. Either that or she's gotta date guys that are older than her.

When I see guys acting tough or jerky I notice that the girls around look kind of shocked or give a look of "what's wrong with him?"

I tend to go for nice guys...I'm not into jerks. At my school, it seems like a lot of the popular girls go out with the jerks...I'm not sure why though.
