So, I have a really old laptop. It's noisy, short battery life, keeps on forcing a restart every-time I click on something and it overheats fast. It's annoying since I've only had it for 3 years and it's been doing that since the begging and I got it from a kiosk in a mall, when I went back to get it looked at. The kiosk was gone.
So i'm looking for a new laptop. I'm looking for something that isn't too big or too small. Plus with enough memory to hold photos. I don't have a lot of money and i'd have to save for it myself.
So, computer whizzes. What should I get?

To hold just photos and documents, literally any HDD past only 60GB should be enough for you, so finding memory these days should not be a problem. if you're looking to do lightweight work on it, I'd suggest having a look at these range of samsung laptops (http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/pc-peripherals/notebook-computers/essential/). They are pretty good. I used to have a computer like you's, it was a Dell Inspiron 1525. I wouldn't be surprised if that was yours as well. 13 inches is a good screen size, not too big or too small.

How about these (http://www.amazon.com/Dell-Inspiron-i14RN-1227BK-14-Inch-Diamond/dp/B006LX2IU0/ref=sr_1_8?m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1342619385&sr=1-8) two. Blinq (http://www.blinq.com) has some really great deals on laptops from really crappy to really great. I bought mine from there refurbished and it is flawless.
Here (https://www.blinq.com/#computers-tablets-networking/pc-laptops-netbooks/hp-pavilion-dv6-6110us-15-6-amd-a-1-4ghz-4gb-640gb-notebook-lw261ua-aba/77717) and here (https://www.blinq.com/#computers-tablets-networking/pc-laptops-netbooks/toshiba-satellite-a665d-s5175-15-4-amd-phenom-ii-1-8ghz-4gb-640gb-laptop/69212) are decent laptops for under $350.
Depending on your budget, you could make a determination on what to get.

Before I can even make suggestions, what is your budget?

Also, other than photo storage, what else do you plan on doing? Would Post editing also be in your usage list?

Well, I just got a great HP laptop. It's an HP Pavilion m6 for $720. I've had no problems so far, it runs amazingly, and it even plays games well. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

I have dell inspiron 14R which is really great.
Small (14" screen)
6gb ram
500gb harddrive
Something like that should meet the requirements for what you said you were going to do.
I just got it back in April and if i remember correctly it was right around $600.

I'm not going to be able to help you with this, on account you used the world "lapytop" in the title.
