How do I know if cigareeyte burns are infected? I have like 7 of them that are pretty deep, the circular parts are yellowish and around them is reddish
I have pics but it would be kind of gross to show here I think lol

First off, what I say cannot be taken in place of medical advice, as I'm just a teenager with minor first-aid skills form dealing with self-harm injuries.
1. Have you attempted to clean the wounds at all? With warm water and soap, alcohol, just wiped them with a paper towel?
2. On a scale from one to ten, how much pain are you in?
3. Is the wound inflamed or feverish? Puffy almost?
4. How recent are they?
5. How on earth did you get seven cigg. burns?

1- yea I took a shower and washed and scrubbed them
2 - not much pain at all
3- it's red around the direct burn where the ember was
4- from yesterday I think, or the day before, idk :(
5- burnt myself

From what your discribing, they don't sound infected, although I don't suggest scubbing them :P That could inflame the already raw skin and actually cause an infection. I would watch them closely and keep some antibiotic ointment on them until they heal. It's pretty common for burns to yellow around the affected area, and naturally they're going to be red, but if they start to ooze random junk and/or become very tender, you should seek medical treatment. ~Holli

They sound just fine. The bubbles were blisters, typical with burns. If they start to hurt pretty bad, then you should worry. But for now, just keep them clean. I highly doubt they're infected.

Yeah, that's from tissue damage below the outer layer of your skin. They should scar over, and even the scar may be lowered, but otherwise, yes. It's totally fine for the burns to be below skin level. *those must've been some pretty harsh burns man, I don't know if it was accidental, but judging from the amount, I'm guessing it's not. I'm here to chat if you ever need someone to talk to :) * ~Holli

Yeah Holli pretty much nailed it, although I would strongly advise against putting alcohol on burns. Keeping them clean is the main thing. They will most likely scar from what you are describing, sorry to say. If they develop red ring around the area, have puss or discharge, sore, pain under armpit or headaches see a doctor.

Hey, hope your burns healed up ok. if they are infected then you'll know all about it. basically just look bad, they hurt (a lot), they don't heal up like normal and they can smell kind of off. i actually started to feel really unwell too. maybe that was just coincidence tho. i had to go to hospital and have them looked at. They gave me a tetanus injection and some antibiotics as well.
hopefully things are ok now and you're not going to do it again, but if you do make sure you cool them in water. i've got these dressing that are pretty good, called Jelonet. it kind of has a weird smell but it helps heal them a lot faster. i cut them to fit over the burn then slap some gauze and tape over the top. if you're going to put any kind of dressing on them make sure its not fluffy. and be careful with what you wear, sometimes i've had burns stick to the material inside my hoodies. you know, that kind of fluffy stuff you get on the inside. having to peel it off is gross. and hurts. i also had this stuff called elastoplast burn spray, but i didn't find it much good, it might be worth a try though. try not to burst any blisters (i find it really hard to resist) because it can let infection in. Anyway, hope they healed up fine.
