So I've been watching a lot of super hero movies and in many of them they have holograms which they can interact with and stuff
I know we don't have that technology yet, but are there any apps which could mimick this on the ipad. It would be quite simple, but then again I am no programmer. It would comprise of 3d shapes, objects or even animals that your could simply enlarge and move around the screen. You could also make them spin to make it look more 3d. The app would have no point other than to look cool but I would really like it.
so, what are your thoughts on this?

3D is never simple, although the CADing companies sure want to make it look like it. But you have to realise that it took many years to make, and it's still not perfect.
Come now, there's bound to be something. Just search "3D" on your mobile marketplace. You can even use your favourite search engine. I used mine (https://duckduckgo.com/?q=!itunes+3D), but you could also use other well-known ones, like this (http://www.google.nl/search?hl=en&q=site%3Aitunes.apple.com/us/app%203D), that (http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=site%3Aitunes.apple.com%2Fus%2Fapp%203D), or even this (http://www.bing.com/search?q=site%3Aitunes.apple.com%2Fus%2Fapp%203D). Amazing what a simple search can do, eh?

The app would just look cool? Hmm, well you could have a look at the HTC Sense interface on the HTC Flyer, it's pretty damn cool, and looks 3D like what you were describing. The only issue is that most launchers that have these 3d interfaces are only for android, since I can't figure out apps that would only look 3D, unless there was some point to them. I know that on Android there is a very good app called "SPB shell 3D", so there could be an alternative for that for iOS. But back to the iPad, my verdict is that you probably wont find apps that look 3D for no reason, it would have to be a game, an organising application or something. I mean, you could find some sort of clock app that looks 3D. And this is all because iOS doesn't allow an alternative launcher, most of which these days are 3D and do exactly what you would want.

Are you referring to something like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Augmented_reality ? I'm aware of Nintendo doing it, and I seem to recall that similar apps are available for Android and iOS.
