Have you tried it? Why do you or don't like it? Is it better to run on concrete or grass for barefoot?

I'm currently in our Cross Country / Track Varsity team , && our coach says best place to run is soft ground or grass seeing as it causes less injuries overtime . I've tried barefoot running it does help your running form a lot ! But depends on how hard the ground is.

Never tried it, but I red an scientifical article saying it is WAY healthier than running shoes, I'm going to try it soon.

I have before because, frankly, I love going barefoot whenever I can :P When I did, I tended to use the grass because it was easier on my feet (of course that was when the grass wasn't all dead and pointy >.<). You run the risk of stepping on bees, though, if you run barefoot in the grass--I did a couple of times. Ouch.

I've tried it, but personally prefer doing it with shoes. It's always best to go on grass or soft ground, especially when you're going barefoot.
Run safely!

I can't run worth shit in shoes, never have been able to, but I'm fairly decent when I'm barefoot. Not just on grass, either, I have pretty tough feet so I can run on just about anything. Walking around barefoot a lot for a couple of years does that to you. I have a lot more stamina and set a much better pace barefoot.

I love barefoot running!! Just not when its 100 degrees outside! But it builds muscle in your feet that you lose from using running shoes, another option is wearing Vibram's speed shoes if youre worried about stepping on something.

My friend does everything barefoot basically :P If he could he'd be barefoot all day every day. He's gone hiking barefoot and we just walked to a supermarket tonight to get food and he walked back barefoot :P
I've never gone running barefoot, I would possibly do it

i like to run barefoot cause of the feeling against my feet. i run on both grass and concrete bare foot. i just like feeling things under my feet. if im not barefoot i have these really nice sandals that are tatami which feels nice on my feet, and the bottom is this foam, which displaces pressure on your steps and feels really nice to walk in.

I have never ran barefoot, but I mean wherever you run barefoot you just got to expect for the unexpected, like glass, bee's, nails, ect. But I would probably think best place to run barefoot is the sand along a beach (mainly a beach where no one usually goes, because that means less trash which means a greater chance for you not to get hurt.) Running on sand is the best place for you to run on anyways! You work so much muscle that you don't use as much when you are on a hard surface! Plus the touch of the sand on your feet feels more relaxing and softer!

I run on the grass after practice for a cool down barefoot. It helps strengthen your feet and shins and helps prevent shin splints which I always get every year! But running barefoot helps a lot too

I love running on the beach when we go on vacation, because it helps to relieve shin splints (I'm bowlegged, so I'm basically screwed).
I am thinking about trying minimalist running, because I know a few adults who started a store near me. But I enjoy it on the beach, it feels more like running to me.

I prefer not to run barefoot due to the dangers as listed by other people, but I've ran with shoes like this before and I really like it, it's great for your form and I found I was actually faster too. Not to mention the feeling of running barefoot is awesome. I'd buy some if I still did track but for the moment with cross country as my main running I need an enclosed show with some decent tread :(

Depending on the surface I am running on, depends on if I am wearing shoes or not dude.
Grass,Sand = No shoes.
Concrete,Running track = Shoes.
That's me pretty much.

Careful running on sand for too long because you might get terrible blisters. Just saying from experience.

I'm no huge runner but i have ran barefoot and go barefoot alot and I think concrete is better but what's probably the best is either dirt trail or sandstone rock. You can run a lot faster like this, because it uses more muscles and practicing on more varied terrain improves your form

I used to do run barefoot a lot more but I've found I usually end up injuring myself because I need the arch support from trainers or my ankles collaps in, and also I always stub my fricken toes.

Get some Vibram Five-finger shoes and do this. It will provide the same benefits without hurting your skin. More people should start doing barefoot running as it will slowly bring back the arch in your foot which is important but normally lost in western societies where people always have bad or un-protective or bad shoes (both aren't good for the arch.)
