How many people on here have read it? I know there's mixed opinions on it as well, so what did you think about it?
I had to read it for school a couple years ago and I really loved the book. I even ended up buying it. I thought it was very well-written and overall a great book (now thought of as one of the American Classics). I know not everyone agrees with this, so I was just curious as to what you all thought?

I read it in the sixth grade and loved it. I don't think I understood all of it, because I didn't grow up with an American cultural background, but looking back it was a very good book.

I've read it multiple times for school projects, and I ended up buying my own copy. I love it <3

I've had to read it for school three times now. I enjoyed the book more each time. I have a ton of friends who dreaded reading it again, but I actually enjoyed it a bit more each time. It was a great book and I still have my copy upstairs.

Honestly, I just couldn't get into it. Probably due to my 10th grade class being full of disruptive douchebags.

I had to read it last year for school, Everyone got to choose from a box of books but a few of us who were more mature and liked to read (and in my case, read and write) were recommended a few books by our teacher. Me and I friend of mine were recommended this book. It was the first book I ever had to analyze and it made me realise the meanings of books. If I ever read that book outside of school before that I probably wouldn't have seen how much racisism was in it. It was really an eye-opener and I extremely loved the book.

I'm going to have to agree with Skyler. It just didn't appeal to me. Also, the fact that it was required reading for school probably turned me off some too. And our teacher read some of the chapters - that we had already read ourselves - to us out loud. -_-
I still love my 9th grade English teacher though hahaha.

It was about as interesting as peeling carrots for a living and about as exciting as grass-watching.
(No offense)

This.
I own a copy of it and I found I enjoyed it the second time I tried to read it. In class was annoying and distracting and I couldn't get into the first half. However, by the time I started getting into it, I did enjoy it. Not a book I would have read without school but it is good.

I just happened to read it for fun my freshman year! Enjoyed the book so much! Took me 3 weeks to get it starting and getting into it, and 1 week to just read whenever I could! Loved it so much, that I would read it again in a heartbeat! It's much better reading it on your own first when you don't have to answer questions and read it for a grade, because people tend to not like books that we have to read for a grade.

I liked it. Couldn't say it's a must-have in someone's collection, but I enjoyed reading it.

I'd like my dad to be more like Atticus Finch sometimes.

One of my favourite novels without a doubt. It was a beautiful portrayal of the innocence of a child, an interesting yet harsh way to portray the horrors of xenophobia and racism, and a wonderful/interesting read all in one.
The ending surprised me.
