Right so, you tech people can help me. I have an old Sony Trinitron 4:3 TV and a PS3 (from when they first came out). All the software is up to date and all that crap.
Now I recently bought Mass Effect 2 and Game of Thrones for it. Before this, all my games showed up nice and pretty and fullscreen in a 4:3 format and have caused me no problems. Works for me. However, my two new games come up as 16:9, widescreen, with letterboxing. Normally this wouldn't bother me but the TV is small enough and the letterboxing makes the text even smaller and well, I can't read it, even if I have my nose up against the screen.
Makes for playing these games difficult. I've gone on Google and they've only ever given me solutions for DVD/Blu-ray fixes, not games themselves. (Not sure if using the Blu-ray fix will work seeing as the game discs are Blu-ray, going to try but my PS3 is currently running updates.) Has anyone had this problem and knows how to fix it?
Don't say "buy a new TV", I'm broke.
